No, it doesn't make sense to not have them, but Tanaka and Komoto have already said there would be no pet class available at launch. Although things are subject to change, they sounded pretty adamant that it just won't happen.
Originally posted by Malacite View PostIf you had bothered to read previous articles, you'd know that these classes are accessed by equiping specific armors.
Fencer is an extension of Gladiator for example, that skills up sword at a quicker rate (this is all over at ZAM/Eorzepedia buried in older articles) and that all future job classes will be implemented via regular updates.
You know, I searched for hours about this...but I can't find it across the several different boards I dwell. Where did you hear this from? I'm completely baffled at classes having "extension classes"....if that's SE ways of saying Advanced Jobs, then I can understand.

Re: Do the hidden classes = DLC content?
Because SE never said anything about 'extension classes' or about these dat mined classes needing special armor to access. In fact these dat mined classes also came with a list of dat mined weapons that match up perfectly with the job list to show that the classes work exactly like the other classes we already know about. The only part about Mal's comments that are even remotely true was the part about new jobs coming from updates instead of expansions ala XI. And that's mainly because of the fact that chances are, XIV is going to see a system closer to the mini-add on content where you download new missions/stories and such as opposed to classic disc based expansions so things like new Job won't have to be locked up in zones you need to buy access to."I have a forebrain, my ability to abstract thoughts allow for all kinds of things" - Red Mage 8-Bit theater

Re: Do the hidden classes = DLC content?
DLC is a gimmick, especially for a game that actually ends like mass effect, or oblivion. Or that mount that blizzard came out with that is DLC only. They make retarded amounts on money selling something on the side for your virtual avatar self. I think it's time to put down the mouse and controllers and practice at RL a few hours a day. As far as actual calsses being DLC at launch would turn ppl away. There is nothing wrong with adding it in an expansion, but right off the bat seems a little harsh. The videgame industry might as well go all the way with it, and charge you buy the minute for having your console turned on, or your game running on ur PC.It's like a sickness. Haven't played in so long I'm dreaming about playing. Time to reactivate that old account.

Re: Do the hidden classes = DLC content?
Expansions are just disk based DLC. Minor DLC like horse armor and crap like that is terrible for gaming, but if they can actually add new content to a game that's already finished, like DLC levels or something like the MSG pack for LBP that add new features to the game, then it's perfectly reasonable and a great concept to keep old games active and fun for their communities."I have a forebrain, my ability to abstract thoughts allow for all kinds of things" - Red Mage 8-Bit theater
