  • Do the hidden classes = DLC content?

    I wonder if they are going to sell the hidden classes separately after launch?

    Well I'm not sure where the list is but some of them include Fencer, Enforcer, Evoker, Musketeer and other stuff.
    but ya, since they are probably developing them, I don't think they will be sold separately, they could be what separates
    the alpha/beta content from the final release content, since they would be exclusive to the full release, not available before then.
    So it's unlikely they will sell those extra classes separately.

    It's very interesting they are putting extra effort towards extra classes for launch!
    Though it's strange there has yet to be a Dagger weapon class, while a Mace class (Enforcer) is pretty much confirmed.
    (maybe they got the Mace idea from Agito.)

    So ya, there might be more details to be revealed for these new classes, though some say that the official site will probably never show them until after release maybe. Come to think of it. Since the alpha has been going on, the site hasn't been updated lately. hmmm

        Thanks. J9 forgets that if she says something we want sources to make sure she isn't randomly rambling or making guesses like usual. I thought it might not be a guess since I didn't see anything in her post about Ninjas.

          I would assume these classes would be playable once you reach a certain point in the game. The alpha and beta (more-so the beta) will only have 20% of the game's content available -- max. So then are these classes unlocked past the 20% mark? Maybe. I would assume Evoker is, since we clearly see Leviathan and Ifrit during cutscenes for the storyline... Assuming these cutscenes were not from the first part of the game and you have to beat them to summon them, as usual.

          Just FFXI's versions of the level 30 advanced job system, yeah? :]

            Should've seen her on Eorzeapedia a few months ago...half the topics were started by her

            And here's what the poster put up:

            PGL = Pugilist
            GLA = Gladiator
            EXC = Marauder (Mistranslation)
            FNC = Fencer (Uses a Rapier)
            ENF = Enforcer (Uses a Mace)
            ARC = Archer
            LNC = Lancer
            MSK = Musketeer (Uses a Gun)
            MYS = Mystic (Uses a Mystic Weapon)
            THM = Thaumaturge
            CON = Conjurer
            ACN = Archanist (Uses an Archanist Weapon)
            WDK = Woodworker
            BSM = Blacksmith
            ARM = Armorer
            GLD = Goldsmith
            WVR = Weaver
            ALC = Alchemist
            CUL = Culinarian
            HRV = Harvester
            FSH = Fisher
            SHP = Shepherd
            ??? = Tanner
            ??? = Botanist
            ??? = Miner
            ??? = Marauder
            The ??? are ones we know exist, but weren't on the dat mining list. Wouldn't be that surprised if we had more classes at launch then what they've shown us so far. A few other MMOs have introduced new classes during the alpha/beta stages (WoW and their hunter class for example) so it could happen.

            Didn't SE already blatantly state there would not be a pet class at launch? And that the FF deities would be used in a different way this time?

                  That would be quite smart of them to do. But with out any information about them, it wouldn't be that smart.

                  I think that if they sold them, they would make much more money, but since you are already paying for the game to play it. Why would they? It seems kinda silly IMO.

                    If you had bothered to read previous articles, you'd know that these classes are accessed by equiping specific armors.

                    Fencer is an extension of Gladiator for example, that skills up sword at a quicker rate (this is all over at ZAM/Eorzepedia buried in older articles) and that all future job classes will be implemented via regular updates.

                          Really? They may have, but I can't recall. Been horribly sick all day so my head isn't on straight. They might have. :] Either way, just because there's summons, doesn't mean they have to be pets. Could just be more extravagant damaging and healing spells.

                            Yes they did. They did say that there won't be pet jobs. I do hope they add them later on though. Back to topic though...

                            The summons could be somewhat like how FFT did their summons. Great summon, huge effect, and either large amounts of damage, or large heal.

                              Wow, I must've missed that...somehow. I know they said new classes were going to be introduced after launch, but my first time hearing that Musketeer and Fencer are armor oriented and an off-shoot of other classes...
