Gamestop has both PC and PS3 versions listed as December 31, 2010, which makes me think that the game won't ACTUALLY be released until March 2011. December 31st dates usually mean it'll come out early the following year, but maybe Squeenix will surprise us. *shrug*

They're just going by what SE has said. SE is determined for a 2010 release, but things never go according to plan. The Dec.31 date is definitely just a place holder. Not holding my breath, but after the recent alpha tests, a Q1 2011 release seems to be on the realm of possibilities now.

... think if I go to Barnes N' Noble, they still tell me GRRM's 5th book of "Song of Fire and Ice" will be out in late 2008'ish. I don't believe placeholders any more... specially that one Rock Lizard... he's such a liar.

I'd actually rather the release get delayed just a bit (Q1 2011), if nothing else so I can play around with level 99 in XI for a bit. As it stands, a 2010 release would likely be about the same time as the final update for the year for XI.

Hardly. You have to admit it's a bit of a slap in the face/cocktease to the XI community and believe me, I am foaming at the mouth to try XIV. But I also wouldn't mind just a month or so to enjoy level 99 and really be done with XI for good. I'm still content with leaving it after finishing wotg this coming September, but a little extra time wouldn't hurt.

It does seem a bit selfish of you though. You do know that you can play FFXI even after FFXIV comes out right? You don't have to play it the day FFXIV come out.
