Yeah, I've only seen it off and on around the forums (Mostly J-9 lol) and in the Hajime no Ippo anime. Ippo uses it to describe the girl he likes .

Most of the time actually cat noises are "nya" for older cats and "nyao" for younger cats >.> ( I may have that reversed but those are the correct sounds)

The "mew mew mew" thing is particular to FFXI to me. That's where I first heard it from my Mithra friends and I just went right along with it too. It's uber cuter, just like 'nya', maybe even a little cuter. ^_~

Haters? I haven't heard anyone say they hated it. I've heard people say that its LOOKS like FFXI spiffed up and with some changes. No one's said the story is the same. No one's said that its going to play the same. All people are saying is that the 2 games are very similar graphically, right down to the same races with graphical tweaks and different names.

I'll buy it, I'll play it, but I would rather of had more originality.

I think it is good to stay on the same lines as FFXI because it keeps the nostalgia of the online games that FF produces. I know it is different for sure though but FF has always stayed close to the beginning characters... Think about it Chocobo, Cactar, Tonberry etc... If I missed spelled anything sorry but that is why we love this game!

I don't have a problem with following the lore of the FF's by having airships, tonberrys, cactuars, etc but you can do that and have brand new races and new environments. Look at 13, it has airships but they aren't the same style wise as XI's are they? Nope. You want a Mithra style character in the game, how about going with something different like a Viera type? It would keep most Mithra lovers happy but yet make people OOOOO and AAAAH over a new race.

One of the things that scares me is that they may lose players. FFXI did well in the MMO race but not as well as it could have. It had its fair share of issues and they were blasted all over the internet by complaining people. Now they make a game thats so graphically similar to FFXI that people are saying FFXI-2 or FFXI HD and they think that people will see it in a new light? No, they won't. They'll see it and remember FFXI's faults and shy away from it. I pray they give out a free trial from the start and not wait YEARS like they did with FFXI. Maybe once people get to play it for free, they'll see that its a great game and they can turn the tide of negativity from FFXI.

The game has something fundamentally wrong with it if the only thing standing between it and the RMT is simply purchasing the dang thing.

It's losing potential customers. It lies heavily in Square-Enix's interest to dispel that image, and pronto.

It was understandable returning to something familiar when coming out of the gates, but I think everybody looking forward to this game and their mothers are all ready for whatever (preferably major) deviations from FFXI that FFXIV will take at this point. If they just aren't there, FFXIV will go the way of Everquest II.

Sure, you can lecture me until you're blue in the face about what "differences" you see or S-E claims to this game. I'll just note how similar half of those actually are to FFXI, say that I am still not interested in this dang game, and point at all the masses of other people that you would fail to convince, as well - all while you're still blue in the face.

Understandable. I have more a preference for the bunnies myself, but that's neither here nor there.

The point that TGM was trying to make was that she wanted something, anything about the new whatever-animal-girls to be different, fresh, more unique. And no, "more jailbait-like" doesn't count.

Heck, I'm sure that S-E could have easily gotten away with a single race that had both cat-girls and bunny-girls - they are supposed to be toting this whole "clan" thing as a distinction, aren't they? Oh, and to further drive the point home, rather than recycling the same old fanservice excuse that they used for the Mithra in FFXI, they would also implement their male counterparts as playable and more present within the world than not even seeing one until four freaking expansion packs after launch.

And while I'm on the subject of "not recycling excuses," they've already killed the whole "genderless" thing for the Roegadyn right off the bat - they make it exceptionally clear that the ones we have seen so far are supposed to be manly men. I would only hope that the race would at least offer some womanly women, to match.

Restrictions on free trial accounts can help to curb the issue with RMT. There needs to be free trials.

I said Viera TYPE and not Viera. I was pointing out that a different style character would have been a nice addition.

The graphical style of FFXIV is very much like FFXI HD at the moment. We are quite restricted as to what we've been able to see thus far and I'm hoping that as the world opens up we'll get a different perspective. I don't know why people get all up in arms about saying its like FFXI HD, didn't you like FFXI? I would think only people who didn't like FFXI would hate to hear it was looking very much like it.

They said in interview they want to eventually allow EVERYONE to try it.

So I think there will be a downloadable Open Beta on PSN Store. kind of like MAG but for a longer period.
