Actually IIRC I think in a previous interview they were talking about actually giving light-generating spells for use in certain dungeons where you can't see very well. That'd be a pretty cool new aspect of adventuring. One of the things that's always kind of annoyed me is when you're inside certain dungeons in XI (particularly right outside Waughroon Shrine) the lighting in the area will change as soon as it hits a specific time.

Well WTF is that about SE? Since when does it matter inside a god damned mine what time of day it is outside? The light doesn't reach in that far.

I hope they put in a proper lighting system rather than just pre-baked lightmaps in the textures. It'll make it seem less bland and static

Alpha phase graphics are in the Alpha Phase. For the game to look even remotely as good as it does now is incredible. Many other alphas don't even bother to add texture or full animations.

...that was a glitch that I've only really noticed in Waughroon. And I don't even think it was based on time of day, but rather a "kick in when it feels like" change. No other dungeon changed lighting like that, it was just something wrong with that one particular zone.

yup definitely the video is set to the lowest settings for now. The high settings will surprise people later.

no its the complete opposite, the alpha is set to a perma "high settings" mode, and can be set lower later

I was in the Wrath of the Lich King Alpha test due to having a friend of mine working at Blizzard at the time. Though Alpha test of an expansion vs. a totally new game are fairly different I suppose.

Eh, SE seems to be pretty cool with the NDA leaks at this point, at worst they'll ask him just to pull the pic down.

Hell, BG had the entire Alpha manual posted for a few days and SE just politely asked them to remove it. A SS of the game being installed isn't going to get anyone kicked from the testing phase.
