I've heard a lot of my LS state that they'll continue to play both, but frankly (putting money vaule point aside) I don't see how or why. Perhaps I can understand to keep in touch with friends, but still... I dunno, am I the only one that sees this as as waste of time? I'm the type to stick to one thing and doing the best I can on that one... no?

I say I want to play both too and I see your point but... You cannot serve two master you will love one and hate the other its an old proverb... One will win out in the end!!! Which one time will tell...

I think both games will survive but FFXI needs to upgrade their whole interface and graphics in the future.

Never going to happen. Support for FFXI will continue, but will be extremely limited. They'll probably do another round of world merges due to declining populations. No new content.

FFXIV will grow in popularity so they will eventually invest all their resources on it.

I doubt it. They will still do updates on FFXI, and they will keep doing it a well. They will never just "drop everything" to do FFXIV

They'll probably fill out levels 75-99, but that's about it. They'll eventually commit all their talent to FFXIV.

I think in the end FFXI has served its purpose no doubt and FFXI will eventually die out... It is just that simple... FFXI will go down in history as a wonderful game that brought all Final Fantasy lovers together for the first time online... FFXIV will be our future home soon!

First game is still going on, they just had a new expansion in Dec of last year. This is 5 years after EverQuest II came out. And they are apparently coming out with a third game.

They can, and as long as they continue to make money they will keep both games going. I don't know if I'll be able to play both at the same time, but I'm sure I'll have the option to do so.

I believe all will agree with that statement but I do not think it will be crappy... It will be different but like all things it will grow on you... So, only time will tell!

Sounds like you think the second is crappy? I don't play either of the EQ games so I don't know if either are crappy. I just know they are both going, and according to the wiki both still getting expansions. /dunno

As long as they still both FF games pull in money, they will both be kept open. I won't know which/how many I'll be playing until they are both going though.

Well, FFXIV is in Beta Testing so its not out yet or at least in the US that I know of but... I love FFXI I really do it has been a part of my life for 6 to 7 years now but... As humans do what is next and what is better around the corner. I think the big draw also are the friendships we share on the game. So, it will come down to money for SE in the end for FFXI because I believe FFXIV will be like a snow ball effect till everyone jumps on the band wagon so to speak...

LOL... I have a PS3... I'm still not on the bandwagon. Too much that still interests me in FFxi. I'll try the trial proly... but another subscription fee... no thanks... not at this time for me. Don't have that much spare time for two MMO's anyway.

Having SE add what seems to be several years of content through-out this year makes transitioning to a new time-sink created by SE less interesting to me. About FFxiv being less of a time-sink... I'll believe it when I see it.

Only in my circles... but most of the people I knew that were really interested in leaving FFxi for FFxiv already have done this so they could save the subscription fees they'd be spending on FFxi for buying something w/ that $$$ to play FFxiv on.
