Re: New info from Famitsu this week

I wonder if that triple arrow is for striking multiple targets at once?

XIV is looking better and better every time more info comes out I seriously can't wait. Ugh, I may have to just suck it up and buy 13 for my beta invite + in-game item LOL >_<

So spellcasting grants TP? This pretty well confirms my previous belief (it reinforces it anyway) that you will be able to use TP on spells this time, possibly other abilities as well like Provoke.

So far the only real wtf things are the absence of Light & Dark (though Thaumaturge is essentially BLM, which has always focused on the "primary" elements so I wouldn't be concerned) and Pugilist having steal. I'm sure SE will likely add a Rogue class at some point in the game. Also, going by those scans, it looks like they will in fact be adding a Miner class which is just awesome.

I've been saying for years that XI could have honestly used H.E.L.M. being made into their own craft skills similar to fishing (not counting towards the 100 cap).

I'm surprised they bothered showing off arrows at all if all they have is a few different varieties plus poison plus whatever the triple arrows do.

I'm going to laugh if this comes out and people complain about it being FFX2-MMO though, what with all of the stance stuff.

The three arrow is probably a "triple shot" type arrow?

Looks like theres Silver, Steel, Iron, Gold, and fire, and that triple arrow thing.

When fighting, you have to think of distance and position. Also, moving parties will be the norm compared to the non-moving pull back to camp style of FFXI.

MP will not auto-refresh. You will have to be careful with how you manage MP. There will be ways to gain MP.
Not entirely sure how that would work unless mages all get MP restoring spells like in Aion or somethng. Even then the only good one was the sublimation style spell Clerics had but even then you still /rested inbetween big pulls because you always had some idiot who doesn't watch his AoE when a mass of mobs have been slept.

Iron, Silver, Obsidian, Swallow Tail, Poison, and Triple. Katakana isn't that hard to learn, should give it a shot sometime, can help you gleam bits and pieces from scans, even if you never study the rest of the language.

People are speculating if you gain MP for defeating enemies or draining it from fallen enemies.

Heh. I tried to learn other languages. I failed horrible each time, no matter which one I tried. I just can't do it for some reason.

I was just saying what I thought it might have been.

Katakana isn't another language, it's a writing system used by Japanese. It is usually used for transcribing foreign words, and the most common foreign language to borrow from is by far English, especially in video games. You can understand quite a lot of Japanese in video games just by picking up katakana, which can be easily done in a week without much effort.

Japanese actually has 3 different kinds, Katakana, Kanji and Hiragana which I believe is rarely used these days. There's also Romaji which is the term for Japanese words written in English.

Re: New info from Famitsu this week

WoW had that "will not be traded" slot for enchanters. I guess these repairs could a similar mechanic. During battle though? That would be funny.

Eorzeapedia • View topic - Ability, and Weapon Skill translations from me!

It seems like the guy a lot of people are taking as a healer is the curse-user that was mentioned ages ago, and uses dark magic. He's the one that can syphon MP from dead enemies.

The robed staff users' sample abilities includes Fire, Shock Spikes, Cure, and Protect. Seems they can opt to cast while moving or stand still while casting for better MP conservation.

The melee guys have a slightly confusing mix of abilities. Pugilists and lancers have a bit of thief in them. Marauders are the Juggernaut... (bitch.)
