  • New info from Famitsu this week

No pics yet but it is widely being reported that Weekly Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation will have big articles on FFXIV this week.

I'm just going to list a bunch of the things being reported. Remember, we don't have pics yet and the magazines don't come out until tomorrow or the day after. In other words, all of this is UNCONFIRMED at the time I write this. Some of it we have heard before tho. Also, I will probably misspell a lot of things because I'm not going to bother looking up English terms. Don't hurt me.

The writeups will have pictures from the alpha build and interviews.

When fighting, you have to think of distance and position. Also, moving parties will be the norm compared to the non-moving pull back to camp style of FFXI.

MP will not auto-refresh. You will have to be careful with how you manage MP. There will be ways to gain MP.

There will be 6 elements. Some people are saying that Light and Dark will not be present.

    Puglists have steal.

You can throw javelins at enemies that are not in a battle state to do a sort of sneak attack.

Marauder's have low accuracy. They also have a meditate-like ability to store... something. Probably TP.

Horticulturalist are the only ones that can see digging spots meant for them. They can dig up stuff during battle that can be used to back up the party. The more of these people you have, the more items you can get it sounds like.

When a blacksmith repairs your weapon, you don't have to hand it over!!!

The alpha build requires a computer with high specs. Some are saying its due to a lack of config options. The final product will require lower specs.

    VRAM512MB is enough.

Not all parts of character making will be present in the beta. In particular, you cannot do facial customization.

There is a mode where you can walk around to regain HP.

There are spells you can cast while moving.

There are many ways to earn TP. You can earn TP from spellcasting as well.

General parties are 6 to 8 people. Alliances are also possible.

There are alpha build screenshots. People say there are small things that are different from the German alpha build we saw at Gamescom.

Gladiators and Puglists have a way to gain hate.

Gladiators have a version of Phalanx different from FF11. Their version is where you can guard with a shield while still attacking.

Puglists have a provoke ability called Whistle.

Remember, at this time all of this is unconfirmed! However, we can expect to see real updates soon. And, if SE keeps up their habit, we'll see updates to the NA website to tie in with the magazine releases.
She's stated nothings confirmed yet, this is just some leaked info. We will know fasho in the next day or following day when the issue hits shelves. I will update this post when more info comes.

But some spells you can cast while moving.. suhweet.

    Edit: Some scans out

Blacksmith can repair stuff without an actual trade? Very smart move if true.

Blacksmith can't make off with your weapon and you can't get his service without money or bartering. It also makes sense from as active party standpoint, if your armor is breaking down in the midst of a fight, the blacksmith could work on that right then and there.

This could also push "need before greed" into the minds of players, so long as it works for all the crafting jobs. It is going to be an alien concept to FFXI players, but if loot drops that is relevant to craftes present in party, it may actually be something you want them to have.

Could you break up the scans to hopefully fix the width of the OP?

The pic of the spear hitting two mobs is interesting. I like the idea of hitting multiple mobs with regular attacks, esecially the smaller ones. Also, if I'm not mistaken they mentioned you will find yourself fighting multiple enemies at times, even when solo.

            Elf chick cleavage ftw~

It also seems that Pugilist will end up being the closest thing to a rogue/thief type class in this game.

That could be true for initial launch, but that does not mean they won't introduce another class later, or maybe there's an advanced class that is more like Thief.

Oooo, I think I understand this. One of my coworkers can't whistle for shit and when she does it makes me hate her. So you get the ability but you get an F rating on actually being able to make it sound good.

I am pumped about this, I was going to start playing FFXI again but I might as well wait and hope I get into the PS3 beta.

Doubtful since they haven't once mentioned anything about "advanced classes" or anything. Maybe in future expansions we may see a more traditional assassin/rogue type class, but for now Pugilist seems to be the go-to class for Thief types.

Also, this is the source of all this apparent news and pics:

http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1232830_1124.html (if it don't work, highlight the address bar and hit enter)

I love how they show off the whole "this is how you start, but this is what you can be" type thing with the classes. God this game's armor is hot. Especially on elf chicks.

p.s. someone needs to translate the moonspeak, stat!

God, the second scan is nice as hell! Too bad his face is emotionless. Should make his mouth open like he is shouting a battle cry, or at least have his eyes narrow, and his lips pursed like he is focusing.

But yea... The armor is hot as hell! I may just make a Miquote for the hell of how the armor looks!
