Dreams in Eorzea?

    Dreams in Eorzea?

    Good day all!

    Allow me to preface by saying that I'm a long time reader, first time poster on DiV. I have played FFXI on and off since early 2004 (currently off in anticipation of XIV), and it was my first MMORPG. FFVII was my first RPG and it was actually primary reason I bought a PS1. I have since played many of the other titles, and can honestly say that it is my favorite series.

    Now that you know a little about me; probably more than you wanted...here is my question:

    Are there any plans to launch a "Dreams in Eorzea" site? I have always enjoyed reading the posts on this site (thankfully it's not blocked by websense). After building such a strong community, I am hopeful that it will carry on after the release of XIV.

    I just want to know where to find all the best threads regarding XIV.

      Quite. Do you think the FFXIV Discussion section will be large enough to hold the vast amount of knowledge shared among the communtiy members after it is released?

            I don't know about everybody else, but I myself will probably be in the FFXIV Discussion Forum until they decide to make it bigger, a new site, or not. I like this site too much to jump ship now and apparently so do others. There are quite a few people who are regulars on this site that no longer even play FFXI regularly or some at all any more.

            Does the Eorzeapedia site have a forum?

              Well, there is a section for just FFXIV, so if the mods want, they can split the site into FFXI, and FFXIV, and have it so you click the FFXI, and go to the FFXI forums, and same for FFXIV. I don't see it being too hard?

                I think they do have a forum. Unfortunately that site is blocked by websense, so I can not access it at work...Blasted internet wont even let me slack at work.

                I wonder if there is a way to put subcatagories within the FFXIV Discussion Forums. It seems to be working the way it is for now since "we don't know much about XIV," but I'm picturing the single discussion folder being flooded with new posts the first few weeks in, and maybe even during beta. It could become difficult to read.

                          I would love to launch a new site, but I have neither the time, money or skills to do so at this time. Maybe by the end of the year. It's easy enough to add and remove sub-forums though. The FFXIV Discussion boards came into existence because someone asked. I'll probably be consolidating and deleting some unused sections this weekend if I get some time to breathe, so if you have suggestions about how things should be organized, feel free to make them.

                            Well that is fantastic news. You have done a truely great job with this site; the amount of content, the structure. Kudos to you my friend.

                            I don't have a lot of really specific ideas at the moment. I was thinking along the lines of pretty standard stuff:

                            Class Discussion
                            "Organization" (Clan/Guild/LS) Recruitment
                            Server Specific Discussion (when they launch enough servers)

                            Pretty much what you have set up for XI. It sounds like a ton of work to me, and it is AWESOME of you to take it on.

                              - FFXIV Core

                              Try look around. There are lots of interesting translations/interviews/discussion in all of them. We're expecting more information during the Vana 'fest tomorrow.
