so im already mapping out my characters growth route while we wait for the game. Im thinking from the start that i want to level blacksmith and make crafting top priority. Then im so torn on if i want to focus on tanking of dd. i really wanna play something like a monk style with the h2h, but at the same time i love tanking b/c you get to control the tempo of the battle. i'm hoping that there is a lot of calculation like in XI. i guess i could do both, but i normally stick with one job at a time to max it out. i'll eventually do both, but the choices are killing me. what combos or classes are you guys looking to take to the top?

Re: so torn, yet not
I wouldn't worry too much about it until we get some perspectives from beta. Who knows, maybe a Pugilist can tank?
If you really want opinions, with what we've been shown so far I'm town between the Lancer and the Archer. I'd likely pick up one of the crafts as well since I neglected to do so early on in XI. Whatever I choose, I'll end up playing one with friends, playing one solo, and crafting whenever I don't do either of the others. I won't progress as fast as someone who takes one job and sticks with it, but it's a trade-off I'm willing to accept.
But this problem is also the beauty of the game. You're not locked into one decision, you can swap between all of them on a whim. Try them all, you may find yourself enjoying something you never expected you would.

Re: so torn, yet not
thats a good point, im kind of on meltdown mode right now since i havent had a mmo to play in almost 7 months, and its been too long since i left XI for something more casual b/c of work-life. I'm so ready to dive back into the MMO world of Final Fantasy.I havent played another with the depth of PVE, group play, and grinding. PvP is all the rage for about a month until you fight in the same scenerios over and over again. I'm glad FFXIV is leaving it out, from what I've heard, thats what Aion is for anyways. Not to mention I love the gamepad so much more than the keys and mouse. I'm hoping for some sweet macro options as well.
