They're more like factions, which separate themselves by ideology tribes and clans are different families that dwell together and help each other out. They get tagged with a tribe/clan name, but those not a family name.Originally posted by jenova_9 View Post
The Duskwight Elezen HATE the Hyur because they feel they are the superior race of the land and believe that was decided by the gods. Normal Elezens have gotten over that, accepted the Hyur and try to coexist with them. So those are different viewpoints.
Of course, I don't see this whole faction thing panning out realistically if SE is going to let people dwell in the same starter cities. If I'm a Duskwight Elezen, I want to live with other Duskwights, not with people that embrace the Hyur.
I noticed that the Lalafell don't seem to have another faction. The other four races do. I'm curious to know more about these differences the races have within their ranks. I also hope this is where SE also makes a stronger distinction with the races of FFXIV. The FFXI races were al defacto goodie-goodie races. I would like to see SOME MMO bring back the faction ratings that classic EQ and EQOA had, not just the default good/evil bullshit people seem to be forcefed these days.
I liked that I could gain favortism and lose aggro from an enemy race in other games for it. Yeah, it was a little tedious, but the fact that racism existed in EQ's world added a certain thrill to exploring it.
I remember the time a young dark elf stopped to converse with me on her way through Qeynos' outer roads, how the city guard came down and killed her as she inquired where she could find the nearest home point or stable. She was only level 5 and had traveled all the way there on foot from Freeport. Poor girl.
She had to HP, I was a bard, I couldn't rez her.

i doubt they'll let you start in the more story oriented places like the Duskwight.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I'd actually would like to see some more information on the classes than the races. We know there are different clans in the races. We know there are different types of people in the races. But we have so few information on the classes though. Would like to know what type of mages we have. How healing will work, Support, if there is some one that can teleport others, abuse time to heal others (Like a regen effect, but speeding up the healing cycle.), and so on. more races? that would be interesting! especially considering stats wise they said the races are not so different that will force them to only be optimal at certain classes.
but ya I think more starting classes would be great. I'm surprised FFXIV has yet to have a class that uses daggers and a class for great swords, two basic fantasy weapons. They seem to be hiding more classes.Comment
