    Eorzeapedia: Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14) News, Wiki, Forums, Community and more » Arnie Roth Discusses Distant Worlds Premiers

    Earlier today, Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu took part in an interview done at Chicago’s Flashpoint Academy. Final Fantasy XIV was brought up on several occasions, and those in attendance even got a look at the Tokyo Game Show trailer. It was discussed that the FFXIV music at the Chicago Distant Worlds concert would be a medley that contains two pieces of music from the upcoming game. We don’t know what those pieces will be, but you can look forward to my write up about it shortly after the event on Saturday evening.
    There’s some other talk about how Nobuo Uematsu came to work on Final Fantasy XIV and what type of things he was shown to get a feel for the setting of the game. Below is a small clip from the interview, you can watch the entirety of the December 10th interview here.

    I didn't know Nobuo was self-taught O.O

        I just want to see another performance of THIS version of Distant Worlds:

        [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8mJQIPNMhI"]YouTube- Memoro de la Stono. Distant Worlds (HQ)[/ame]

        And I want it to replace the current version with the CoP ending because the broken English version needs to die. I think this version was sung by Susan Calloway if I read it correctly.

            Nobuo = God. I almost shat myself when I heard he was being brought back to do the entire score for 14.

            EDIT: I like the version that's used in-game... but I agree with the broken English being awful. Her voice and the audio is way better IMO... but the broken English is somewhat annoying (but only slightly to me. I still enjoy the piece to death ^^)

            Also, have you guys heard the Star Onion's "Music from the other side of Vana'diel" album? The vocalized jeuno theme is amazing, though they could have cut out the last 2 minutes.

            EDIT 2: You know who they should have gotten to sing it? Faye Wong. That would have been fucking EPIC.

                I have that, it's not bad. The Jeuno theme is called "Blessed in Her Glorious Light". I wished they had went a little more for what they did with "Music from the Other Side of Vana'diel" rather than what they did with "Sanctuary", which was mostly just acoustic versions of the tracks they picked. Some of them don't even sound any different from the source material.

                Nobuo = God. I almost shat myself when I heard he was being brought back to do the entire score for 14.
                Maybe. I sometimes wish his themes were a little less simplistic. I sometimes prefer the stuff Hitoshi Sakimoto did for the Tactics games.

                I have the "Distant Worlds" album and really like it. I have one complaint about it though and that is that I wish they would stop using those same tracks they keep falling back on to arrange or orchestrate: "Aerith's Theme", "One Winged Angel", "Liberi Fatali", "Love Grows", you get the idea.

                "Ronfaure" has been orchestrated, there is a video if on YouTube that I think is pretty nice. "Tina/Terra's Theme" is here and there. You know what I would love to hear? An orchestrated version of "Vana'diel March".

                      I know I was just complaining about the "Sanctuary" album sounding a bit too much like the source music, but I think I wouldn't have minded to have this in it too:

                        That was a pretty fantastic show, our seats ended up being much better than the Ticketmaster seating chart made them out to be. My g/f has now seen the beginning and end cutscenes of several FF games that I probably need to force her to play through eventually.

                          more from Elmer;

                          The Distant Worlds concert has wrapped up in Chicago and as promised, it included the world premier of two Final Fantasy XIV pieces. The songs were ones we have heard before in the two trailers that are available on the official site. However, they certainly come across with greater impact when played by the Chicago Pops Orchestra. Check out the embedded video below, uploaded by YouTube user takjak2, to enjoy their rendition.
