If you meant IRL Monks, it seems they typically use to wear waraji, which are a pair of straw sandels. Some warrior monk types called Sohei use to wear tabi and geta, which are socks and wooden clogs. Which, seems a familiar theme in alot of anime I've watched before, so that is apparently not only a monk style. I think it was possibly a cultural icon at one point in Japan, if not now.
