better yet, add an IRC-style mute feature. Ops (leaders in this case) always have talk rights, and voice can also be assigned to others as needed. When needed, the channel can be muted to the select group to prevent chat flooding. Could be very useful for organizing events, making announcements, etc.

I've wanted to mute a few people in the ls a few times. They are good friends, but some times they can get a bit annoying with non stop "/l"s lol. Its especially annoying when your trying to keep up teh haste cycle, and you don't see when haste or refresh wears off then you get bitched at for not seeing it wear off. XD

Thats the one thing I always disliked, and honestly the one thing I liked when I played WoW, two seprate chat boxes, one for talking, one for all other battle/system info

here are some good quotes to learn from for FFXIV's clans and leadership!

“Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results, not attributes.”
          - Peter F. Drucker

“Leadership is the wise use of power. Power is the capacity to translate intention into reality and sustain it.”
          - Warren G. Bennis

"Any Clan/Guild/Linkshell that has clearly defined intentions (not necessarily goals), measurable results, and can maintain those intentions and sustain those results over time HAS good leadership.

Good leadership is like a good meal. It's not a single ingredient, nor even all the ingredients. It's not the chef, nor their tools. It is something that can only be recognized after it has been achieved."

You know you're preaching to the choir, and the people that do need to learn about leadership don't listen to reason, right?

Hum. I've thought about running an MMORPG clan for FFXIV, but I'm not sure if I want to handle that kind of stress, especially since I have other major commitments to worry about. I do know what power is, though, and what it should be used for. :U

And it shouldn't ever be used for personal gain, really. Derp.

The best clans are usually a smaller closer active group that are around the same levels, kind of like Akatsuki in Naruto,
well okay not that good of an example, but at least they don't backstab each other as much as the Organization XIII members.
okay hmmm, oh ya! The Z Warriors in Dragonball Z! they are good friends and usually do stuff together.
no wait, um, Sailor Moon! The Sailor Scouts are close and active together and stuff!

But ya basically smaller groups/clans can work better. They just have to have similiar goals usually, and I have some ideas
to keep things fair for all members, like giving everyone a turn to plan something they wanna do that the clan will help/do together!

hat way it isn't like just some lobby channel where members just chat but 1/4 of them actually do stuff together.

Clans are the most advantageous for FFXIV since it's brand new and everyone starts pretty much the same levels, so there
are more potential members and reasons to band together!

But I wouldn't suggest organizing/recruiting a clan before release, it helps meeting people in-game that have similiar schedules and stuff.
That's where you can really tell if certain people are qualified.
