There will be "levels" in game. They havent really said what there will be, but there will be some sort of level or "skill" system in the game. You will be out/under leveld/classes/skilled if you want to be a healer for a skill/level/class of 50, if your healer is 50. But your fighter wont bne lvl 50, nor would your mage, unless you level them at the same pace. So you will probably lose exp.

They also said you can't change you job on the fly. And if they didn't already forsee the bad pull thing or link, they would gimp it so badly as soon as people start to exploit it.

I think the levels will be based on the weapon skills levels

Re: FFXIV seems like it will be a class identification nightmare.

I'm going to laugh really hard. Really, really really hard, when I see the people, that normally complain like its WW3 over Squee's MMO making skeelz and how much they dislike FF MMOs, be all over FFXIV like white on rice, buying the game, pre-registering, hyped out and all super-happy-fun-let's all befriends guys!- and starting the shout matching on foRumZ, throwing flash bombs, standing on the soap box, and being the forum bully when it comes to job design and gameplay.

Because, I'm sitting here looking at these new jobs on FXIV and I just CAN'T help but wonder what those certain people are thinking: "which jobs are going to suck, which ones will be unbalanced, which ones will there not be enough of to win at x mission for y item because my z ego is Peenerific." But they'll still go out and buy the game, and complain "0mgz suX0r why SE I spendid tha moneyz 2 u."

And given the fact that if you apparently pre-register FFXIV you can get a free "secret" in game-item, which only begs the question, "Are you pre-registering FFXIV for the item or the game?" Sorry, the irony and hypocrisy have me in tears, don't mind me.

ya lol, maybe the flexibility will surprise some people, but overall, ya some will only stick to what's optimal.

Re: FFXIV seems like it will be a class identification nightmare.

Thought late, I really wanted to reply with my personal thoughts an opinions on the "class" system, already it seems like a contradiction to me. "There are no job classes"? Then whats Gladiator,Thaurmamage(sc?) . etc. I do not complain one bit, im just confused XD. My idea is, creativity. It seems like FFXI was a practice round for something better, even tho it was epic all alone. I say this because I recall reading that SE members of FFXIV, mentioned they got inspiration for new ideas from massive MMO's like WoW(which i played abit of, not no FFXI for me, but was ok^^ ) I think, you cant win or loose, regardless of what they do, someone, somewhere(may not sound fair but i belive it true) will put down another job, for whatever reason they see fit. I think, even though it was in the hands of the creators, a job class would NOT have been created, just to be told by someone who If i may joke, does not pay my monthly fee, to call me useless an un-needed. I apologize if I go off track I only wish to express an explain my opinions (also this be my first post here plz dun hate ...too much XD)

The reason I said, "useless" is because I have had hard times enjoying FFXI like many others im sure, I do not put myself on some cross or nothing, no. I just about enjoyed FFXI experiance. Neway, apologies. It's just I think its like this, you choose a style...a set of gear (weapons, armor, maybe some range equip.) While it sounds like it inspires you trying to develop your own thing, it sounds like it wants you to try abit of it all..being its something of a mouse-click away(changing weapons from like..sword n shield to a staff sounds like you go str8 from classification of a warrior to mage type.) Perhaps the weapons will have unlockable skills..like FFIX an many others...an with use you can master those skills an have them under your belt..how things become more advance I have no idea personally....ALL I HOPE for...is a dagger or two in my hand, some leather armor, an yes....I wanna attempt a thief class...those r my hopes, if not (though I honestly cant imagine WHY not? I say because if theres something for everyone then, you gotta keep in mind versatility...some people dont like big armor, swords, all that. I love the whole quick, nimble, not heavy single hit damage, but damn people we cant have it all, ALLL the time XD) I kno I have a choice, but why should it be affected because someone else who plays belive its useless right? So I just hope WE ALL for that matter, can begin playing, have a blast, an work together right? :D

Okay I think I've rambled enough srry again XD. I strongly hold to my own beliefs but I really am just as open minded, I'd be more than happy to invite the drg/war/whm over the dang sam/war(which i was to 75..sam/war an sometimes/rng that is) , just for something different for once . Newayz, I suppose I'll await a reply, be it neutral, hate, w/e XD. [COLOR="Silver"]

Fixed. D&D, single player games, paintball, etc. don't have this problem. It's when you introduce competition and ego that it becomes a problem.

Shame that...well..perhaps it really will be different..an if not..shit, SE said themselves, that solo growth is more possible than FFXI...so..I'll just join friends who will be doin there own thing too if I really need to pt up I suppose XD. Dunno what its gonna be like really, can only speculate right? We will have to just wait an see. As long as I dont hear another dang person actually go far's to say...Oh, well a thief like class doesnt even have purpose, much less in the lore of this FFXIV game. heh..I lol'd at myself typing that :3. My bad tho, im done ranting Sowwy :X

So maybe it will be like FFTactics where you have to spend CP/AP into your skills?

                      "LFM WHM w/ CURE3 / RAISE2" etc
Whose idea was it to steal that pirate ship, anyway?

This is one of the same things I thought myself actually. It would be that or like, well...unfortunately I cannot quote the game title, however, you would acquire weapons in whatever way. They would have skills with them, you would have to use the weapon or armor, to "master" them. To which afterwards you would be able to keep the skills in use, w/o having to use the equipment, then you would just move on to the next thing. Who knows really, they have given us a good bit of info on the game, but theres plenty of time for change, or w/e. Its kinda impossible to say how anything will be right now..imo.

hmm FFT system would be interesting. If they can prevent obvious exploit. Like, say, you go around naked to get hit by super low level mobs --> use white magic to cure yourself. Easy 'n safe skill points.
