This interview is pretty much a mind game. FFXI wasn't turn based at all, and in one of the earlier interviews they were pretty adamant about XIV NOT having a job system to the point they almost sounded upset that the guy kept calling it that. The Dengeki interview also suggested the game isn't actually completely free roaming, yet this interview suggests that it is. Also, Oblivion all over the place. Seems like the game is still really early in development if not a single person in any of the interviews can say more than "Well.. it's gonna be kind of like this. Maybe. We can't reveal much right now."

Semi related, does anyone else miss the days when games weren't hyped up years in advance? Kind of tired of shit like FFXIII being announced 4 years in advance and hyped up the entire time, or fucking Hideo Kojima and his announcement that he will be making an announcement during an announcement at his TGS announcement panel where he will be announcing the new Metal Gear Solid 9 teaser website with a timer counting down to each announcement.

I remember when I was a kid and games would magically appear at the local video rental and I would go "Omg new game."

Yes I realize that doesn't answer your question, sorry.

Er... games used to be hyped up years in advance even back in the 80s. Game releases today are much more common. Back in the 80s and 90s we had tons of delays due to chip shortages and whatnot.

Now people cry if a game is put off a few weeks for some bug testing. I mean, damn those bastards for working out a few bugs.

Ha I always remember games being hyped way in advance. The games that most caught my attention was the first Socom cause it was PS2's first online game with voice chat.. and then FFXI. Those were the good ole days. We still had dial up, and I was always excited to get my PSM and Gamepro magazines int he mail cause that was the source of my gaming info.

This I don't care about. I can be impatient, but I got other games to keep my occupied for the time being. As long as they take their time and the game doesn't end up like Socom confrontation >.<

I miss the days when it was helpful and had amusing comics often several full pages long ^^

It sure as hell beats getting to King Koopa after hours of gameplay then dying! You know what that does to a kid????

One thing I don't miss about the old days was waiting for an RPG to be released. Jesus f'in Christ it was depressing!! In the past 10 years the glut of RPG's that have been developed or ported has been like an addict going to Crackland. Not saying that they are all worth the money but its better to have a variety to choose from than just the one that was released every 3-4 fucking years!

that's true. and that was when RPGs weren't mainstream (before FFVII). I had the FF1 NP strategy guide, but never played teh game until FFOrigins came out for PS1.

Anyways I think with lots of water being in FFXIV, water might be used to restore HP.
