A mans strength isn't measured by the size of his muscle, but by the size of his heart.

it's better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass.

In fantasy game, antelope eat you. ^_^

I'm hopeful that the Guildleves give us reasonable explanations for why we are hunting cute animals. All the crabs in FFXI at least provided slices of crab meat for Boiled Crab.

Now you can have Opo-Opo jerky. Spicy, salted, and teriyaki flavor.

That looks like a raptor tail to the left of the Opo-opo, and possibly a Manticore or Imp to the right.

                  Re: new interviews 09/04/2009

Here is the information out of the 2 videos above in text form. No its not perfectly exact because I edited some Engrish and stuff. There are a couple parts I couldn't understand her so I just noted them:

"There are some MMO's out there that have PVE and PVP servers. When you consider that the main idea of the game is PVE, those people that play on the PVP servers are a very small number; it is a minority. If the game is not only PVE from the beginning but also PVP, like WoW, the the PVP server is very popular as well. But we are trying to do here is have a PVE so when we are focusing on PVE and then have to have a PVP server that will not really be popular with <@ :55 could not decipher what she said here>. For other games, if they are trying to be PVE but they are still working on PVP its not going to be completed. So we want to focus on PVE first and then add some other content.

The price range we are still discussing so we can't make any comments at this time. But about the audience we are trying to reach, it is first of all the FFXI players so we want to provide them with a new option with a new MMORPG to enjoy if they like. And the second target will be FF fans who never tried MMO's or FFXI, it would be a good opportunity for them to try out this new MMO. And then we want to reach the MMO audience who never played the FF series so we would like to reach <@ 1:47 could not decipher what she said here>.

Regarding the voice chat system, we did consider that for FFXI and FFXIV as well but there's a few restrictions. Well we don't want to introduce it as a standard option to the users is because its not really a standard system for PS3 users or even depending on the PC specs users have not everyone has the voice chat system. We are not currently planning on having it as a current function for the game but we might consider it in the future. Even if the game does not offer it, if the user has enough equipment by themselves they should be able to communicate with other people through the voice chat system.

FFXI has been out for 7-8 years now, it was the first cross platform/cross region MMO game.
We believe that was very good decision and we know that its very important to communicate
with our players and listen to their feedback and to keep excitement in the game world. So communication with the players is the biggest thing we learned from this MMO.

As we mentioned earlier, the FFXI community is our first target for FFXIV. But that doesn't mean we want them to move on to FFXIV! We are just providing them with another option for them to enjoy. So some people might want to stay in FFXI, some people might want to switch to FFXIV, and some peoiple might want to play both..and we'll be happy with the players decision.

We believe its important to have a GM team to support the players directly so we will have a team. And also because its cross region, there might be some cultural conflicts sometimes but we have bi-lingual GM's for FFXI so we hope that will help the situation.

Also we believe that its important to have regulations open to the player so they won't say “Oh I didn't know I wasn't allowed to do that.” So you'll have all the details in advance so that people can refer to it so they can know what to do and what they shouldn't do.

One thing new to this game is that it is going to be cross platform when it is released. It will be on the PS3 and PC.

The new part of the in game content is that unlike other exp based level up systems this one is going to be based on a skill up system of your own weapons, which is the new Armory System. Unlike other RPG games where you level up your character, this time you will be leveling up your skills. Also Guildleves is a kind of a quest introduction system and is new to this game. Usually if you get a quest you will go to an NPC and get your quest, but this time you will go to the Aetheryte which is a blue object in the game. You will go there and gain your own Guildleves quest.

Party play will be the main part for FFXIV. Because we have a skill system this time that means you will be playing a certain role in the party so you will still be able to enjoy group activities in the party. But what we are going to introduce additionally to FFXIV is because of the skill system you can switch between what part you want to play in the battle. You will be able to do it by yourself as a solo player or also you can join a small party, it doesn't have to be a big party when you fight your battles.

For the Guildleve system we are introducing to FFXIV, there will be several different types of Guildleves you can select. So if you feel like you want to play on your own today, you can choose Guildleves that are for solo play. If you have a few people together or if you want to join a party, you can try those Guildleves as well. We'll be providing a variety of options to the user so it will match their play style.

There is a confusion from when we mentioned that there is not going to be any jobs anymore in FFXIV because its going to be based on skills. That does not mean there isn't going to be any type of job part in the game. What will happen is, you will be able to switch your jobs/classes very easily...oops we don't say jobs it's classes...by switching your weapon you change your class. Comparted to FFXI, its going to be much easier to switch your job so you will still be able to join a party and play your part as the job in FFXI.

Sometimes if you want to try a hard Guildleve then you have to have a certain skill level. Also some Guildleve's may require some requirements, so if you meet those requirements then you can try those Guildleves so its not like you can try anything at anytime.

Yes, there will be a deep storyline in FFXIV, if not the same as FFXI then even more! It's going to be a really deep storyline that we are trying to achieve. And as you can see we have to show a very high graphic quality this time, so you will be able to enjoy high quality cut scenes with voiceovers. So we hope that players will enjoy that and please look forward to it.

We still are developing the game so there may be some areas we might need to ask for you to <@ 3:22 could not decipher what she said here>. But if that happens there must be some reason to it because what we are aiming to do is to have a complete seamless system so we maybe not sure at the moment.

One system to use to move around the world is the Aetheryte. By using Aetheryte you can warp to the different areas. Chocobos will be in the game but it might be different from the other games about how it will appear or how it will be sorta of...what part in the game it will take. Please look forward to future announcements.
