oh in case they missed it, I said

they only mean gear paths like the selection of gear Jobs in FFXI have as they level up based on the tiers of gear depending on the different skill levels out there.

You don't "have" to wear the next set of gear, you can just ignore it and equip the next tier of gear when your skill is high enough.

It's kind of like people might get Scale Armor, but might skip the Lizard armor stuff and stick with the Scale mail until they are able to equip Beetle armor. then Chainmail when they get out of Quifim, etc.

also they said there is "all-purpose gear" so there will be more variety of things to equip. And what people equip is up to the player. They can have optimum or outdated gear for their current skill level, or a mix of both. And considering they are now categorizing gear between all purpose gear and skilling up specific gear, there will be a greater selection and flexibility than before. Though it sounds the weapon/job specific armor provides faster skilling up benefits.

I believe that means equipment that makes you look like a fencer.

They didn't say the gear makes you look like fencers. They said "Example is Fencers for increased speed of sword skill leveling." They never said anything about looking like a fancer.

Re: More XIV stuffs (interviews etc)

I personally still want to see both male Mi'Quixote and female Roegadyn.

For all the talk of "gender balance" that's been thrown around, nobody appears to bother paying heed to that little "EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THAT RACE YOU SEE RUNNING AROUND IS OF THE SAME GENDER" thing.

That honestly bothers me. Heck, I'm already mildly concerned about the Lalafell flavor text regarding them as a mostly male race. That begs the simple question, Why? (Add: well, yeah, "why," but I think I may be going for more of a "how" question.) It could be that this only means female Lalafell NPCs are simply a rarity, or it could be something a tad more sinister. Either way, it certainly isn't that S-E is all that concerned with having lolita-types running around in their game, as A) the Lalafell have freaking recycled unisex body models, and B) the female Miqo'te fill that role just fine, anyway. (Ba-ZING!)

Same here, though this time around I think I'll pick Miqo'te regardless due to the stats not differing so much.

If customization is flexible enough to have more slender (and shorter) galkas then you'd be able to get something pretty close to a manthra.

But that's a huge if i'm talking about.

people have translated what a Guild leve may contain. See I knew that area in the demo took place right outside Limsa Lominsa!

One of the best things is now we have a questing system to make gil.

Whoot! Maybe obtaining gil in this game wont be as hard as it was in FFXI. But... Hopefully with the easier gain of gil, it wont really sky rocket the price of items and make it impossible for newbies to get items. (A few years after the game is realeased I am talking about though)

I always thought it was the other way around.... the easier it is to get money, the more things cost.

"Oh it's easy to get 50,000 gil in 10 minutes, so I'll put the price to 1,000,000."
