I played FFVIII. The gunblade was a sword with a gun mounted on.in it.

When you hit the right button at the right time, you would shoot your foe at the same time as you struk him for extra damage.



Seed was also an arganization (I forgot what they where trying to), but they lived in a floating city.

I played FFVIII multiple times, and I know what a gunblade is. Just like there is going to be one in FFXIII as well.

The cor and the sword was just a joke.

Gunblades don't shoot (if they did they would have a gun noozle like FFXIII's gunsword/swordgun, and Squall would
shoot like Irvine does with his guns.) They trigger an explosion on the blade to occur. Many theorize they are magic shells
because there is no way an explosion from inside the blade wouldn't break the blade itself, so the explosive fire would
have to be based on magic stored inside the ammo (Squall's gunblade case showed space for ammo.) and the blade is probably made out of a material that lets magic channel through it.

I think Magic Swords are more likely than gunblades, but what's a Gunblade without a Garden anyway? :p

thats not all true, the gunblade in FFVIII had a barrel to it, there was half a barrel on each side of the blade

It looks cool and sells games even if it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The buster sword was just a huge great sword there's not much special about that. But a Gun Blade? You'd expect that to shoot.

do you know HOW big thast sword really is? i have a friend that has the replica of one... and iuts huge and heavy, no way someone like Cloud could handle it the way he does.

Much less dual wield two while flying around with Kingdom Hearts-like gravity defying mid-air jumps and blocking bullets. Yeeah.

or Cloud's arm would snap trying to lift and swing it. that even happens to body builders trying to lift something many times their weight, and if their arm position is wrong and the weight is too great, snnnnap.

I do indeed remember reading somewhere in FF8, either the manual or the game, that Gunblades work by changing the way the blade works in some way, and not by firing bullets at enemies like you would think.

Someone start up the game and look around the Garden tutorials, it's probably in there somewhere.

And I remember tapping X when I attacked with Squall and it would shoot the gun. I am pretty sure that's how it was phrased too.

I don't see your point. It still counts as a fictitious weapon simply because it's impossible for it to exist and be used in any efficient manner in real life. In that respect it's not unlike the Gunblade. No matter which version of the Gunblade is considered correct, it's still a ridiculous concept that sells itself primarily through "cool factor."

As far as I can google aluminium is about 1/3 as dense as steel, but the Buster Sword still has more than 3 real two-handed swords' worth of volume even just going by its width. With thickness taken into consideration, it's still too heavy to be handled. Probably has a goddamned awful center of gravity too with the blade being so much heavier than the grip. But I'm mainly stating the obvious here.

My point from the start was that the Buster Sword isn't unusual and unique as a Gun Blade. We have seen huge oversized swords before that no normal human could wield in games before.. If I had to choose which was cooler, it wouldn't be the buster sword. Yes they're both ridiculously far fetched, but I am not being technical and talking from a real life standpoint.

The damn thing is 7 feet long including the handle. Similar issue as with the Buster sword, just instead of being too thick it's too damn long. Now, you may actually be able to pick it up and swing it, but damned if you're going to have any kind of stability.

It's not entirely clear from the shot but I believe the first character has a dagger on his left hip rather than being weaponless. The costume is as rogue-like as it is bard-like.
