Because the guys in those videos seemed to be really struggling to even swing their sword.

They just started playing the game. It takes time to get used to playing a new game. It could be that they just picked up the controller randomly and started hitting buttons.

they weren't choosing the commands/skills/actions at the bottom enough, that's the only reason.

They expected the auto-attack to do the rest. Those guys definitely never played an mmorpg before.

Playing XIII's demo I really struggled having to choose each and every action (including attacking) without macros while mobs just kept auto-attacking.

So I hope I don't have to go through the same on XIV.

the macro system probably has an auto command to automate any sequence of specific command(s) you don't want to do manually. That might help some out. But I'm really looking forward to the more hands on command system.
if there is an automatic macro option, I might end up using both. Because as fast as I can type, sometimes it helps
communicate smoothly not having to punch in actions every 3-5 seconds while I'm sending a message. :p

Really hope they don't let people start their names with lowercase letters and have numbers in their names.

I know it's Alpha but holy shit that will be so fucking stupid if they do it that way. Dumb names are bad enough, let's at least have the courtesy to capitalize our names and eliminate numbers from the mix.

They wont, if you notice all the names are "somting" with the numbers 01-90 (maybe 99?) on them, its just place hodler names.

Remember, it's just a demo. I'm sure the gcusa030 and the gcusa020 was just the number of the guys in line to play. Maybe gcusa means gamescom user lol.

Did FFXI have numbers in the name?? I don't think they did?? I don't think I have played an MMO which allowed numbers and symbols in the name.

Probably their name - Johnbon - was already taken, so they took the first available randomly generated name by whatever computer system they're trying to use their name on.

Its just like the XxlolxX names that a lot of MMORPGs have. I have seen names with the Xxs, and numbers. A Lot of the F2P games allow that and its really stupid.
