Maaan.. let me tell you.. When I started playing WoW I wasn;t addicted to it YET. It was end of oct when I got it, but I didn't play much till bout late Nov. That's when my friend got it too. There was NO WAY I could let him pass me in level when I had the game months before him. So I did nonstop leveling day and night. That's when I got addicted. Not to the game, but to staying ahead of him. I called into work like 3 times just to stay ahead of him. I didn't know they did maintenance on tuesdays so I called in one time on tue and come to find out, can't play! I thought I would get a headsup and for sure stay ahead of him and ended up not playing till 6pm. Bout the time I woulda got home from work!

So the moral of my story is.. DON'T LET IT CONSUME YOU!!

and in an immersive environment like FFXI or WoW, it's really easy to lose track of time and party for six hours the night before you have an assignment due.

I did that before when I played FFXI for the first time, and that was when I was addicted to it lol.

I would start when I get home (Around 3 Pm), and play the game none stop, and play until I had to go back to school (7 Am) XD My parents got so pissed at me because I did not want to get off the game. I usually got liek 5 levels when ever I did that too lol. I was SO effing addicted to the game lol.

Well.... Now I am learning how to conserve my time, and when to quit so I don't play for like 15+ hours a day lol

Do you still play? Cause if you don't you may think you know how to conserve your time untill you get the game and find out you were wrong.

I still do play, and I don't play the game as much any more. I've actually stopped playing the game from time to time as I have learned that I have other stuff that I actually need to do instead of just sit there and play the game.

The most I will play is 4 hours a day, and I will actually say to myself "Ok, once it gets to X time, I will log off no matter how good the party is.". And it will be the same for farming, and such. But, if I am in a mission, and its over the time that I will get off, I will finish up asap, then log off as soon as its done. I try to play less than I usually do but some times I just don't play at all.

Some times I still do that XD My gamer heart gets the better of me at times lol.

Usually I can get off when I tell myself I will be getting off at a certain time.

I know it man.. lol. Doing anything out of your gaming world is hard. Even taking a shit becomes hard when you don't want to pull away from the damn game.

I had a laptop, but not my laptop that has my games on it lol. I had my father's with me as it was only a 250$ laptop, and I didn't want any of the good ones stolen lol

I played XI on the PS2 so I couldn't be mobile with it like I was with WoW lol.

Yea. When I first started to play FFXI, I had it on PS2. It would have crassed my Desktop lol. Then I got a decent Lap top, and started using that. It works great for FFXI as it doesn't demand much from the PC lol.

It is so easy to spend all of your college time playing MMOs instead of going to class/doing homework. I actually skipped class for Nidhogg windows when I was up for A. Body. (Luckily we got it from Odin before I really screwed up my studies.)

And you can get off my lawn. Back in the '80s, we played board games (many from Steve Jackson) and coin-op video games, in the student center during the day while skipping classes. Some of us even dual-boxed on Gauntlet to twink the score on one of the two characters. (the chart score was your final score divided by the number of coins inserted for that character) At least we got to see each other's faces all the time.

For me, I dunno.. I chose Elvaan when FFXI first came out because I thought they looked so bad ass.

But then they got kinda boring.

For sure I'm going to be a Lalafel Sorcerer or whatever they will be. That will prob be my main focus. With some blacksmithing on the side or something.

I didn't like how they stood and how they looked like scarecrows lol. So I'm definitely going Hyur/Hume again. I hope there's a DRK class or something like it lol.
