I'm not 100% sold on 14 yet, plus not sure if I will have the cash to get a new comp (though maybe I'll just get a PS3) when it comes out/beta comes since I am taking a long ass vacation after I graduate in December. Plus grad school, the time in between etc etc. All I know is, my current comp probably can't run 14.
That said, probably a Hyur (Hume) again. As "cute" as the teletubby race is, I just like the balanced stats of hume types. As for jobs, I need to learn a bit more.

Race wont matter in FFXIV, SE said the difference in stats wont be as great as they where in FFXI

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
I still don't understand the desire to be a cat-man.
I tend to pick races on aesthetics. I liked the look of the mithra, but would have rather played a male. Wasn't too annoyed by it, and never got harassed or anything. But FFXIV was a blank slate; when I read that the old races would be back and possibly new ones I still got my hopes up.
Not too fond of the look of the Miqo'te I've seen, hence the "maybe".
For what it's worth, I think female Roegadyn would also be great. My female orc looked cool in WoW, I imagine a female Roegadyn would have a similar build.

Women in gaming is becoming more mainstream. When I started playing WoW no one even batted an eye to hear my voice on vent, or just knowing I was a female, and that community is a lot worse about shit like that (maturity wise). It's changed quite a bit since we started this MMO adventure.
I was decently equipped but by endgame standards it was pretty poor stuff. LOL Being a woman never got me any goodies in game but it did get me a lot of grief from pervs! There were times I told guys I was a GRANDMOTHER and they kept at it and said they didn't care!! O.O

But I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.

God I hate my periods. You think passing a clot through a vagina is bad? Try it with a penis.

Speaking of model viewers. I'll probably end up building a new rig to play XVI when it comes out even though I was positive I was going to play it on the PS3.

This is Catman. He's like Batman, only with claws and easily spotted then beaten up. He's not even up-to-snuff for the second-stringers in Batman's Gallery of Rouges. He's lucky to get a jailbreak once every four years, while The Joker gets out of the Asylum almost every other day.

Maybe they're into mature porn? Not my cup of tea but whatever floats your boat

Uhm... do you read Secret Six (your picture)? He's much more bad ass than he used to be. Crazy bastard, but he's not a joke anymore.
I'm going to have to wait and see, as dull as that sounds.
But really, like the 2 "physically distinguishable" types of Miqo'te, I want to see if or how these intraracial factions differ first. If Hellsguard Roegadyn look noticeably different from regular sea-faring Roegadyn, that might affect my choice. I think they mentioned 2 factions for each race aside from Lalafel, and if they differ enough it would seem like twice as many races to me.
I'm also waiting to see the class breakdowns as well. I wonder if the so-far-assumed non-combat disciplines of Land and Hand might not hide a few surprise classes in them. Mainly jobs that have existed in previous games that weren't quite combat or magic, per se. I can't think of a good example really.
A bad example would be like FF3 or FF5 Geomancers (not that I have a boner for that class), who used bells for weapons and used skills that weren't really "magic" but were similar in nature. I guess Bards have a similar shake, using instruments and "un-magic." Anyway, maybe they could be placed in the discipline of the Land or something odd, which I would then be drawn to because of it's strange grouping. But things like that would probably just be lumped in with the other combat or magic classes anyway.
