Try and PVP someone in WoW, and see how annoying and stupid it gets, when your opponent is jumping around you like a crazy retard.

Jumping like that ruins the feel of a game, that why i siad add jumping, but make it disabled in combat.

I was that guy that jumped circles around people lol. It's also a good strategy much like straffing or jumping in a shooter.

Anyway.. Feba all you had to say was I like like to take the game a little more seriously than others and I would have understood yalls point about people jumping lol. I am sorry for arguing with you.

With that said though.. It is just a game, and in the end, people will do what they want and all we can do is ignore what we don't like and try to have fun. That's what I do.

And for all those retards who think that there should be a huge restriction on jumping... heres an easy idea... you can jump.. at certain times! Like... if you walk over to a cliff and you press an action button that allows you to jump down! OMFG! An idea!

You wanna know why Jumping was such a big damn deal in WoW ... cause you can do it! Its something to do! I agree that when I played WoW and then came back to FFXI, I wanted to jump. Its not wrong or "full of fail". Its just a feature that can be used.

Humans drive cars, fly planes, etc. And how many people die in those every year. SOOOOOO lets take them away! Lets outlaw them and take that feature out! WHY??? Because its annoying when shit happens that I dont like! Forget the fact that it can be nessecary! Forget the fact that sometimes it just fun! FUCK IT ALL! Take it all away!!

Anyone that is curious why people hate free jumping, and why it would ruin it for many people,

Please go outside and jump endlessly (both feet at once) in public around people, behind people, in FRONT of people, down the street while still jumping, for at least 20 minutes, and imagine there are at least a dozen or more doing the same thing, and then guess what we're getting at and ask the people on the street what they think about you.

jumping 80 times a minute times the amount of people abusing that function is a whole different story from constantly waving (which can't be comboed as frequently as jumping), dancing, or just sitting/standing there.

I'm on the no jumping bandwagon. It's fine if used for what its for but most people do shit to aggravate you. Jumping up and down in front of your character and saying "X jumps really high and puts his balls on Y's head." or some shit. I like to goof around just like the next guy but when its done over and over and over and over and over and over and over......its just too immature for me and annoys me.

Again, there's a giant fucking difference.

In real life, when you want transportation, you call up (or nowadays, more likely, go to Orbitz or Priceline or Kayak) an airline and ask for tickets. When you want to get people together to do an event, you call up friends, post bulletins, and do other things to drum up interest. These are perfectly rational things.

In MMOs, shouting around town to get people for services you need are the most common and generally quickest way to get them done. That's how it works not just from a mechanical standpoint, but a cultural one. If hitchhiking were a more common activity in our society, it might not be strange to hear people at a mall yelling or holding signs proclaiming where they need to go.

But while jumping might be arguably a part of an MMO's "culture", it has no mechanical purpose. Jumping up and down is simply nonsensical behavior which should not be possible. Unless you only want characters to jump a few inches, as most real people do, and any real person in a suit of armor does. That might be acceptable... but it's not getting anyone over any fences or rocks, or anything else, and serves no mechanical purpose to add. It would really be a waste of dev time.

Metroid and Halo were not ruined because of jumping. Its the players who abuse it that ruin the game. THAT is the point. But saying jumping ruins the game is wrong. The players ruin it.

I can be annoyed just like the next person... but the simple fact is, why leave out a feature of a game just because people abuse it?
