ha that reminds me.. One time I was getting my DRK subjob and I was in the mines where you find the Chaos Bringer. There was a quadav on the other side of this gate door thing, so I attacked him (i forgot with what) and he ran off.. I was like "Well where the hell is he going?" and I kid you not.. 10 min later when I was ready to leave, I got jumped by him and atleast 60 of his homies.. I had more aggro than a blackman at a KKK rally..

I did sorta the same thing. I bound one on the other side of the gate, figuring "ha ha, he can't get me" and tried to kill him. He got away and got all his friends, all their friends and so on and came to get me.

yeah, that was fun...

I would also support the "on-demand Zelda style jump"

Again with the scrub mentality? Why do you think you're important enough to decide what "abuse" of a game mechanic is? You don't make the rules, someone else does, and they decided that people can jump around as much as they feel like. If you don't like it you quit the game or quit being such a bitch.


Scripted jumping is also faggotry, they may as well just put a normal, walkable path there instead. The novelty of "Press the ACTION BUTTON to climb/jump/etc" will wear off after a week and you'll be wishing you could just walk on through or tap the space bar to jump it yourself.

I said in my post that you should be able to shoot/nuke from ledges, and as Aky-chan pointed out you're likely to get off only 1 shot, two if you're lucky because of the unable to see crap.

What I'm driving at is adding more strategic elements to battles, and a way for ranged attackers to keep it that way. It's pretty stupid to build a class around ranged attacks but then give it virtually no means to keep it's distance from the enemy. At least in WoW, Hunters have pets and can set traps. All RNG gets is shadowbind, and the Bind spell will break the moment you hit the mob (and tends to have a short duration anyway)


Should it be applicable in every scenario? Of course not, but there really ought to be some instances where you can utilize your surroundings or abilities to your advantage to pelt away at the enemy safely. Being able to run and shoot would be awesome but that's even more broken than shooting from a cliff IMO.

I am not deciding if its abuse, I am using the dictionary term and its definition to decide for me. I call it annoying, you don't, that's fine, but there is no need to call me a scrub, because I don't agree with you. I would like to see jump added myself, but not in the form its in with games like WoW.

I am a supporter of the "if there must be jumping, let it only be triggered Zelda-style" argument.

Same here. Ledge-grabbing and climbing too. Just feels more adventurous when your character has to struggle a bit to get some places instead of being able to walk everywhere.

I am for the Zelda type jumping, and having a cool down on the free jump. I just don't like how people will sit there and bunny hop in town if there is no cool down on it if they allow free jump.

I wouldn't mine some proper audio this time...

Our characters basically just grunt all the time, and it's not terribly creative (though I could swear it sounds like my elf is shouting "Come on!" from time to time) and this isn't The Legend of Zelda...

Can we please get some actual voice work, if only for taunting our enemies in battle and emotes? Full-blown dialogue would be too expensive and time consuming for an MMO, but they can at least give us some basic expressions and phrases for use in battle. I have no problem with the Miqo'te making cat noises however :3

That's another thing I really enjoyed in WoW, the voice.

Just when you talk to an NPC, they'll say something like, "How's it going?" or "What is it?" or "What now?" and when you close the dialog window with them, they'll say something like "For the Horde!" or "Peace, friend." I LOVE THAT! It's just a new flavor to the game. I might not be able to say anything myself, but I do like how the NPCs have their own little catchphrases.
