we are not really saying "OMG NO JUMP PLEASE"

Hell add jump, I hope they do, for that very reason, so we can jump over a fence or somthing if we have to...

    BUT!

add a cool down to it so people can not bunny hope like that do in WoW

You may see nothing with it... but many find it annoying and stupid.

disable it in battle, and outside battle, let it have a 5-10 second cool down.

I am a supporter of the "if there must be jumping, let it only be triggered Zelda-style" argument.

As I stated before, if the developer wanted to reward a player for moving around and jumping around during combat, then they would put in a system that did so and gave the player visual feedback for it. If the developer had any common sense and learnt from past mistakes of themselves and other developers, then they would realise that a player would need to gain no benefit from jumping around like an idiot during combat, but that is ultimately up for the developer to decide.

What my post was mainly hinting towards; this is a trivial subject, and something that even if confirmed would be still annoying as hell to discuss. Especially when you have people like Pwnagraphic resorting to such disrespectful posts. Pwnagraphic: IT'S ONE SMALL MECHANIC THAT HASN'T EVEN BEEN ANNOUNCED, NO NEED TO BE A DOUCHE ABOUT IT.

As a side note, don't get me wrong I am not for or against jumping. If anything, Aion just proves that even though you have flying, gliding and jumping, it does not break the immersion of the game or the suspension of disbelief (such as you guys are stating; bunny hopping, jumping around like a lunatic in combat, etc.). Would you like to know why? Because ultimately the level/terrain design is better, gliding is much more efficient and is still in the world of belief within Aion's world (not to mention a lot more fun to do than just running or jumping), and combat is too involving to even consider jumping around. I am not here to promote Aion, I just think the reference is relevant.

So, basically Malacite, your reason for discussing this is trivial and on the verge of stupidity.
How could I miss this post?! Quoted for great justice!

I hardly qualify jumping as abusing an option.. when I think of abuse, I think of a cop abusing his power. Not a WoW player jumping from Stormwind to STV lol.

that's still a form of abuse, the player is overusing something needlessly

I would also support the "on-demand Zelda style jump"

Dude.. I never said I hope they add jump or anything. i simply stated "I hope they make it easier to go up a hill." And then someone else replied with something along the lines of jumping will ruin the game.. and other people started in on that and then I said my opinion on how jumping wouldn't hurt anyone and the argument escalated from there and everyone assumed I was the one who brought up the idea "HEY! THERE BETTER BE A JUMP IN THE GOD FORSAKEN GAME!" When I never said anything like that. Then Armando wanted to be an ass so I was an ass back. If saying get over it is a D-bag comment, then I am sorry, but get over it lol.

Then why doesn't everyone just ask Blizzard to add abuse of jumping to the'r terms of use policy and simply report those people for abuse of over using the jump? That'll solve that problem right there.

This. Again, I will reiterate that it's a small percentage of people who bunny hop incessantly. And I'm of the opinion that people who are annoyed by it are blowing it WAY out of proportion. Of all the things to get annoyed about, really? You're annoyed by it because you just don't like the notion of people jumping. Same as people get annoyed by the ones who put /dance 4 in their Cure 3 macro. Same as people get annoyed by "I SUMMON YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE SEA LEVIATHAN" macros.

However, the fact that it's mildly annoying doesn't make it stupid to have. Jumping over obstacles would be a really welcome addition to the game. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've wished jumping existed in FFXI.

I mean hell, you have people who run circles around everyone while they're waiting for their linkshell to gather for Dynamis, you have people who have dance parties in the middle of Whitegate, you have people who play "tag" with each other. All of those things could be considered mildly annoying to most, and extremely annoying to some others. Just because something that's over-used from time to time is annoying when it's abused doesn't mean everyone is going to be annoying/abuse that thing. Those who are annoying with jump are going to be just as annoying in shout, in say, in ls, in emote, etc. It's a testament to the person, not the game.

This, and just once it would be cool to use DRG's Jump prowess outside of combat

Also as stated before, can we actually make use of terrain this time? If I'm using a bow from atop a cliff, I don't want the fucking mob magically scaling said wall and whacking away at my face instantly, that's bullshit. I refer you to the allmighty wall of East Sarta... (actually there are several high ledges over looking various mobs, yet they all magically climb up...)

                      What does SE have against this anyway? Terrain should have as much strategic value in a fight as anything else. And I don't mean anything stupid along the lines of the invincible wall that was first used to beat AV... just that if we have a vantage point, one of two things should happen;

                      1) The mob wizens up and either runs away or goes around/looks for a way up. Or maybe it attempts to retaliate with it's own ranged abilities (with penalties applying of course as we hold the high ground)

                      2) The mob flails away helpessly and dies like the retard it is (was.)

I don't know, Mal, could it be the fact that it enables you to do a shitload of damage to the mob before it gets to you, if it even gets to you alive in the first place?

Hell, I know what you're trying to say, but I find it ridiculous that you don't see anything wrong with being able to shoot mobs to death from high cliffs which could take upwards of 15 seconds to get around.

For what, pray tell? This isn't FF Tactics. This would give Dragoon an element of exploration that it really doesn't have any reason to possess.

You get maybe one hit/spell off of high terrain anyway, since once it starts to go around you'll just get annoyed by being "unable to see" something you are clearly able to see (OMG fuck that stupid tree at Khim, FUCK. IT.) while it goes all the way around to smack you back.

I've always felt it was retarded that mobs could go up these slopes that we players can't, and even walk straight up the top of a tree at times because of weird pathing, so I can see what he's saying. If we can't scale the cliff, the mob shouldn't be able to, either. Unless some class(es) get an ability like Death Grip that DKs have in WoW, grabs players/mobs and pulls them to you so you can beat the shit out of them with your weapon.
