Funny thing is they never bother with grammar or anything and give silly names to their shops (like "Merci vancances" meaning "thank you hollidays" ... /calp). Looks like they do the same with elvaans to give them some kind of nobility."

So.. why exactly is everyone excited about them recycling 8 year old character designs with OMG HD GRAFFIX? They even used the same hair styles to boot.


Going to be seriously disappointed if this game turns into FFXI HD Remix.

I need a lot more info before I can even guess about how I feel about the job classes in the game.

Going to be seriously disappointed if this game turns into FFXI Supernova HD Remix.

That is a bitter insult to the game and developers. a FFXI HD Remix would just be Vana'diel again literally. same zones, same
battle system. just HD graphics. Your exaggeration is not helping you understand.

we can't jump to conclusions about the hairstyles since we haven't seen all of them. Plus the character designs are different
enough. The gatherer's hairstyle is not found in FFXI. Neither are the Hyurans in the paired image.

This is not Vana'diel and it's too bad some people take the generous nostalgia granted by the races as some lazy attempt at a new FF world. If they came up with some lizard race, rat race, bull race, and horse race besides the humans, they wouldn't be as welcoming as races that share some traits from FFXI's races. It's just like how humans are in every single Final Fantasy game since they are easier to relate to.

And the similiarities was just chosen to help some FFXI veterans transition into FFXIV, but at the same time, these are
not exactly the same races people have known in FFXI.

I'm sure after spending enough time with FFXIV, people will respect the similiarities and differences, and feel at home in FFXIV.

Sadly that's exactly what I would like to see.

you wanna play a special version of Vana'diel, which is still basically FFXI, for another 8 years?
That would be a stagnant and dull experience. No company should follow Capcom's poor example and their million versions of SF2, Alpha, SF3, EX, etc. Even just one new version based on FFXI's world would be unforgivable.


I'm soooooooooo glad they are making FFXIV how it's becoming now instead of dwelling on FFXI.

I really like that, reminds me of the uniforms from Garden/SeeD except of course totally different.

But I wonder what that uniform represents? And adventurer or something related to the military, like cadets or recruits of some kind.

I really like the Swordsman gear though. That might be AF equipment (though since there are no levels, it might be standard equipment for a Swordsman, so we probably don't have to wait a month before we can afford one. And who knows, maybe if we can join Eorzea's military, we can just get it through some type of points/rank system? ) Also, chances are that maybe gear from one category can worn by any job in that catergory (Swordsman, Archer).

so maybe that gear is Fighter gear, not just for Swordsman.

The job thing seems interesting. I think that they may be rigging it up so that everybody can play one job from each category at the same time. Which means you can be a warrior that makes your armor just fine.

What's really piquing my interests is that Magical and Martial categories are separate. Enchanter + Swordsman = Red Mage? Archer + Warlock = Arcane Archer {I'm interested.} Or maybe you really can be a Monk with Black Magic this time around! <.<

Also, I don't get what TGM and Feba have against the Lalafell. My only complaint is that the name is a bit stupider-sounding than Tarutaru, but I agree with Armando in that we look much less like prey. Also, unisex body models again? {No thanks.} >.>; Don't blame me for wanting to remind people that we aren't children! Just traditional elves.

Also, the tolkien elves, the QQs, are apparently no longer descendant of giraffes. That's always a good thing. The cat girl appears to have a bit of a neck, though, and surprise of surprises, it looks like S-E has failed to provide us some cat guys to play with. Look, S-E, just because it is an animal-esque being that we aren't sexually attracted to on account of being male, does not constitute a good reason for excluding it from the game this time around. <.<;;

Also. I expect FFXIV to be only as similar to FFXI as FFX is to FFVII, or FFII is to FFV, or FFXII is to FFIX. It's a Final Fantasy game, so it is not an unreasonable expectation.

that's right! People won't say both FFs in the same sentence anymore once they realize that it's as different as pineapples and oranges, they are both fruit but not the same.

I don't know about Job combining though. That might lead back to the pitfalls of the subjob system (unless they augment abilities from another job like FFTactics.)

So I think it might be like FF1 where each Job has a very specific role, and they don't multitask between different categories of abilities.

Yes that doesn't mean they can't job change when they are back in town, but a more solidified role could make each Job much MUCH better at what they do instead of being a wild card and being inferior at everything (DNC).

I honestly think the new Lalafell design greatly improves on the original Tarutaru design; I feel this for every other race too. However, I'd really need to see size comparisons and them in the game, running real-time together to be able to make final judgements how how they look.

I am not sure what to think of what they want out of character progression, especially with some of the jobs. But so far it seems interesting, and I can't wait to find out more. I wonder if we'll be able to progress all classes on one character, or if we can only take one path for each character.
