Re: New FFXIV Info!
What 'most MMORPGS' are you talking about? "Most MMORPGS Kailea has played"? Most MMORPGS Feba has played don't have consumable arrows, or if they do, arrows are a very common drop, to the point where they are effectively free.
In either case,
This is still an incredible wrong view. I won't bother trying to explain how you're clearly thinking of FFXI, as this is just as bad.
When we first started playing FFXI, many of us formed assumptions about it based on previous experience. Previous experience with MMOs (WoW players especially), previous experience with FF. Most of us were smacked out of those assumptions, whether by numerous "Hi Newb" threads warning people not to expect what they were used to here, or by FFXI going "No, I don't work that way, kid.".
Why then should we assume that we can make accurate assumptions about how FFXIV works? If previous knowledge of MMOs is largely useless to FFXI, why should previous knowledge of MMOs be useful in the next one?
Why should we even assume that bows in FF14 are anything like the ones we are accustomed to? Is there anything saying that they don't shoot magic which has been condensed into a form which needs to be physically moved? Or why shouldn't we assume that magic draws the arrow back to the bow automatically, allowing you to use your single powerful arrow over and over again? That's certainly more plausible than the boomerang problem, as pointed out by Armando above.
Based on my previous MMO experience, I could assume that FFXIV will have a lot of things. But they would all be very much baseless assumptions.

So then why is it that it's OK for every single sword swing to have no bearing on whether your sword disappears or not?
Why are bows and arrows so special, while swords are not?
E1- 'Arrows do more damage'
C1- In FFXI. There's no reason to believe that's the case in FFXIV
E2- 'Ranger is a more tactical job than warrior'
C2- In FFXI. There's no reason to believe that's the case in FFXIV.
