Well I use Facebook but for a valid reason. My family and my husband's family is quite spread out so we use it to update goings on in the family and posting pictures, especially of the grandkids. I have a few FFXI friends on my friends list but the majority is family. I can see facebook for family or friends keeping in touch.
But twitter and myspace are still diseases.

Myspace, sure, although that's more because the site is retarded in so many ways purely based on its design, far before you ever get to the community. But even it has its purposes; I don't think it's possible to survive in the music industry without it. It's useful in plenty of other fields too.
Twitter doesn't have any structural problems, it's just the same goddamn-idiots-on-my-internet community that gives it a bad reputation, but as long as you ignore the public feed and don't put idiots on your list, it's a very useful tool.Comment

Again, myspace has more purposes and uses than FB does. Musicians and artists live by myspace these days it seems. I don't really buy the "facebook keeps me in touch with family and friends" though.
