But then we can't have people that have absolutely no notion of a stat's worth buying Leaping Boots for 150% the price of a Haubergeon.

And people would realize that Gluttony Sword is a below-mediocre weapon! Wait, that's a good thing.

People shouldn't need to put up their items for AH, instead, they should SELL those items directly to the AH,
and automatically receive the gil based on their value and rarity.

and the AH would in turn have those items for sale for whoever wants to buy them.

a controlled system like that would prevent timesinks waiting to make money, and prevent people from abusing the system with overpriced items and cheating people.
So the AH is some glorified shop keeper? I think it could work, but the opportunity to turn a buck would have to remain in tact somehow. Playing the market is a legitimate strategy to make money, and no matter how much you dislike it, people have a right to overcharge and undercut. Some one wins and some one loses, that's the way the market works.

I want to know who's selling, and, when I sell, I like to know who's buying, even though it will most likely never be of any consequence. FFXI's bidding is so anonymous, which, when coupled with the seven item limit, seems purposefully built to keep prices rather high, or, simply, not low. I really appreciate the price history.

I bet FFXI's AH style is culturally influenced.

The easiest way to decrease gil's influence is to, either, allow players to trade in currencies such as CP or AN, or afford players more opportunities to earn them and allow players to purchase much, much more with them.

I wish SE would actually up the taxes on the AH to brutalizing levels, at least on the high ticket items.

Reason being it would finally (hopefully) put an end to assholes who decide to price gouge when there's little to no stock available.

How, precisely, does a ludicrous tax help? All you're doing is punching everyone in the dick - and gouging will still turn a profit.

You could have a completely unreasonable tax of 20%. Guess what? Gouging the price still yields a profit of 80% of whatever amount you raised the price by.

The only way to punish gouging is...to punish gouging. That is, having a small tax if the price you listed is within a certain margin of the price history, but having it shoot up very quickly if you deviate from it. But then you have another problem - if someone floods the market and crashes the price, and the price goes down, you'll punish those that try to *restore* the price.

You could make the tax system go both ways (price shoots up if you undercut sharply too) but I'm not certain that wouldn't be screwing up something else.

I actually think that will work. It will help people sell their stuff that they want to sell when they want to sell it, and not have to keep putting it up on the AH about 7 times, then decide to undercut by 5k just to get the item sold. (Happened to me with my Devottes mitts >.< Couldn't sell, so I just said Eff it, and placed it 5k under.)

The prices will still rise and fall, but not by large amount 20k or so, unless there is a huge tax imvoled.

What I think they shoudl do...

For every 1k increase or decrease... It should increase or decrease the tax by 1%

I'm sick of getting jacked by the AH.

Every time I go to sell something, I get out sold by ppl undercutting less than me (I try not to go more than 10% below the current rates) and yet they still get full price... but every time I try it, I get called in it. Without fail.

Tried to sell my brown belt recently, only 2 were up, then the next day I see it's dropped from 450k to 400 and 4 are still up. WTF.

I go to sell a K. ore I got from a lucky ISMM, 4 up at the time, 420k. Ended up selling for 400 b/c when I looked the next day several sold and 17 were still up for sale.

And finally, just recently, I tried to get a Juji Gi for my NIN. 50k was going rate on every sale, but 1 prick decided to charge 80k. Well, it only took 1 dumb ass to pay it for everyone else to sell it for that price and now it's up to 100k.

If not for SE charging $30.00 and the few IRL buddies I have there, I'd so ditch Seraph.

Learn from what you are doing wrong on the AH. Shit happens, but generally there is a pattern to your actions that if corrected or changed, will allow you to do better.

No, it's just plain bad luck/timing. Other people are constantly undercutting for far less than I do but never get called on it.

Heh. I usually only under cur crystals as I get them so fast, theres no way to get rid of them faster then you get them. XD My 7 slots are usually taken up by all crystals lol. Hell, my MH, and Storage (30 slots) is full of crystal stacks, as I get them so fast lol.

But, I usually check if theres any under cutters whenever I buy anything off the AH. Its just common sense to check it. The only tim I under cut anything that can be a good profit is when I can not get the item sold.
