Honestly, if it uses EVEs system, I'm just going to go back to FFXI. That was one, of many, of my problems with EVE. Lets say that, in FFXIV, I wanted to go fight some sort of monster with my friends. Problem is that I just joined the game and my friends have been playing for a week. Even if they stop learning so I can catch up, that's still like, a week before I've caught up. Sure, in the mean time I could go off and farm for money or whatever, but that's not what I want to do and (this is the key point) there's nothing I can do to get myself to the point where I can play with my friends faster. I might as well log out and play something else for that week until I'm caught up.

I believed it then and I still believe it now... this aspect of EVE was some incredibly bad game design.

Now, that's not to say that I dislike a game which gives you some sort of balancing factor for those who can't play as much as others. WoW does a system like this for XPing. When you aren't logged in (or when you are logged in, but inside a capitol or an inn), you are accumulating "rested XP" which doubles the amount of XP you get per kill. It balances out those who can't log-in as much as others, making the folks who can only play like an hour a day still not be stupid slow, but I still feel that progression should be reliant on the action of the player, not the progression of real time.

          >.> "Offline"? Sounds like a troll/fake/scam to me (can't see BG at work so I don't know what's going on over there).

I agree with Kaziel0, it does seem fake.

Most games that do CB (If not all), are online with their CB and not offline. I doubt that FFXIV will do an offline CB, as there will be no way to talk to a GM, or other people if you have issues with it.

Its mostlikely another Hype thing that some one made, or is a scam to get your personaly info. I will look into it though, but I wont sign up for it lol

are people on BG really this stupid? really? -.-

SE would not call it FFXIV offline, just because it in beta -.-

I see this as some BS some one made.

I wont trust any info unless its from the official site, or TGS 09

It seems kind of counter productive to make a fake image and then include some text that would make everyone believe it to be fake.

Unless the idea is to make people realize it's a fake ASAP. Who knows what you whippersnappers are up to these days.

It's reverse psychology, they make it evidently fake so you think it's legit.

You guys have obviously never seen some of the things that the WoW playerbase will come up with as fakes. It's less common now, but I've seen fake patch notes that read like the real deal. Not like pipedream patch notes, but stuff that could really be implemented, and those type of fake patch notes were huge... we're talking a good 10+ pages of this stuff.

So, now that I'm home and can see it, I'm even more convinced that this is fake. Not only does it make zero sense (an offline test of an online game?), the "offline" in that image looks faked.

Am I 100% sure this is a fake? No. It could be real, but I'd bet money that it's not.

Its fake because there is no announcement anywhere... and if someone was mailed this image, more people would've also been mailed.

If they posted this with it saying online.. would that be a type of copyright worth suing? If that could be a reason that may explain why it says offline.. I mean SE didn't call it FFXI: Offline during it's beta. That's retarded considering it has to be online to be actually be in beta regardless if its 'live" or not..

my fake FFXIV screenshots were better and more believable than that. :p

(but I think SE believed they were real (or rather, feared ppl would believe the beta was leaked), and had imageshack delete them. Because the link don't work anymore.)

                              No they weren't.

Anyway, I'm leaning to call this fake now as well. It's been two days and we haven't gotten any new info from the one who originally leaked the image yet. That usually means there is no info and it's easier to sit and wait then it is to try and stir up the lie.

                              False alarm everyone =(
