All the "whats" were regarding another main series Final Fantasy game being released within the same year as FFXIII.

No one could have known for sure Rapture was a FF MMO til the announcement at E3. The press was expecting info on FFXIII, so that's where the surprised reactions came from.

---------- Post added at 05:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:44 AM ----------

There are a few things I want from FFXIV:

As others have mentioned, the ability to jump and swim would be nice. Even if I can only swim so far I do remember the times we had to kill this big ass sea monster in EQOA and I'd be treading water refreshing people (BTW, every JA ran on mana, you RDMs can bite me about having to refresh two or three people, I had to do it for everyone and myself).

I want a ship, I want my own ship. I want to sail the open sea and navigate it. I've been a landlocked corsair for years now. YAR. I want my own ship. No ferrys, no automated vessels. My. Own. Ship. I don't care if I have to employ a crew of Moogles. Hell, I'll take a crew of Tonberries of I have to!

Anyone remember how excited people were about manaclipper? The potential to have your own ship even for just a small little area?

Come on, SE. We'd take tiny little Wind Waker style sail boats. Just somethin'

A crew of tonberries would be epic. I love that little raft with the tonberries on it that aren't evil and trying to stab me. I think they're cute and precious.

I wouldn't mind a return of chocobo raising, hell I welcome it. SE just needs to simplify it a little and make it cheaper X.x (would be nice if a raised chocobo could at least keep pace with if not out run a rental this time too)

you should see the Tonberries with chef hats in FF:Crystal Chronicles (original), most adorable tonberries ever, especially in the
intro cutscene of that mansion level, and the cutscene before the boss fight (ghost chef tonberries!)

I dunno, personal boats would really break the need for chocobos for travel. and I doubt we would be able to manually navigate them in the ocean. personally I feel an ocean zone would be a waste of space, since everyone's with their own personal boat, and there's nothing to do in the ocean except fish and maybe have some aquatic enemies get onboard (things that can already be done in FFXI.)

I liked the ferry-type boat in FFXI, strangers and friends alike can enjoy the ride together, the fee was really cheap.
same with the airship rides. hopefully FFXIV doesn't turn into Water World. -.-; I'm more of a landlubber myself. :p

Eorzea region should definitely be massive and persistent. There should be grasslands, forests, deserts, glaciers, etc. etc. I really wonder about the towns though. They should link the AHs this time, and give more people reasons to visit their hometown instead of some 4th town they can't even choose as their home nation.

I actually was hoping there is some form of Chocobo mounting, a flying purple chocobo like in FFIV would be totally awesome...

ther are purple chocobos in FFTactics too but they are called black chocobos for some reason.

the Red ones are awesome though. Choco Meteor!

I'm just another person who cant wait for the game to come out with ideas that he hopes that SE will use

The AH. Hope they keep the same AH system, if they do decide to use the AH system again. I love having an AH in ANY online game. They rule

Revamped crafting system. (Is used) No more needles endless grinding to raise a few levels in crafting. 1 craft = .1 raise... Hated crafting 100+ items just to raise by .1 for crafting. *Shudder* Or at least make it so that you can obtain the items easier which brings me to my next point...

Items needed to craft should be easier to obtain, or (at least a little) cheaper.

"True" open world. Like floating across the river with your makeshift raft, or sailing the open seas with your powerful battle ship.

An "Athletics skill", which allows you to climb over obsticals, or jump across trenches. Hell, even being able to swim would own. (Not like WoW's swimming system though.)

Eleminate (As many as possible) invisible walls. How many times have you tried walking over a giant branch in East Ron only to find out that you can't climb over it, and you should be able to. Or seeing LL off in the distance when zoning into S gusta, and getting blocked by a wall on a hill that you should be able to climb, then watching as a war run over to it, and voke it as you get to it.

No more insainly low drop rate from NM, and insainly long spawn times of NMs. Atleast make them Force spawn, and have their pop items drop off all the mobs that are that type in that zone, but make it like 5% or something.

Invasions! Town invasions from beastmen for something low players can do. Or atleast some fun events for the lowbies.

Ravamp the job system making PvP fun, and possibly able to have massive 100 on 100 (posibly on 100) PvP if there are going to be three starting nations.

No more needeing to lock onto the monster to attack it. You target it, select attack, you draw your weapon, and are able to run around freely while attacking.

No more of that stupid "Oh Imma parry your attack with my sword the same time I'm going to strike you." crap. thats so annoying. XD

Massive battles with Beastmen, and monsters. 100 on 1000 type thing, but don't get killed so easily. Making the grinding element fun

Make atacks more fluid like. Not strike, wait, wait, wait ,wait, strike, wait... More like you strike once, and it shows you character following up with another strike. Does that an X amount of times depending on the weapon, waits a second or two, and does it again, but differntly every time.

((Sorry for the bad spelling. I don't feel like spell checking atm. >< ))

they should avoid dumb things like making a popular sword like Save the Queen with such sucky stats compared to other swords around its level, and on top of that, having such a retarded way of obtaining it (lottery spawn in some quicksand caves room. and ON TOP OF THAT the drop rate is awful too.) AND EVEN WORSE is that Save the Queen doesn't look all that cool and unique compared to other knight swords. Id I recall, the only thing that stands out is the queen-like crown on the grip.

and even though in FFXII it was a 2h sword instead of 1h sword, Final Fantasy XII's Save the Queen sword looked 100000 times better (and easier to obtain, just buy it at a specific shop at a certain point in the story. But mmorpg-wise STQ should be a drop that's good stats and fair to obtain. I really despise lottery spawns.

its funny but alot of the elements of FFXI could stay for all I care, but with higher success/drop rates.....

the crafting system was not bad, it just failed/no skillup way to much
and the NM idea was not bad, but the drop rates over all where poor

Using crystals as a catalyst was neat, and factoring in the current elemental day was also acceptable but they needed to do away with all this direction mumbo-jumbo and especially HQs. HQ synths should use different materials, maybe an extra ingredient or two as well as a higher skill rating to pull off rather than some random occurance.

And FFXI is the only (major) MMO I've seen where NM drops weren't either 100% or at least quite high. I still don't see any real balance issue either from just giving most of these drops if it's EX.

Oh noes, tonnes of people have leaping boots! ZOMG! >_>

And as far as BCNMs go, rather than adding the "original" items it would have been better to make more BC exclusives and/or have the chests just drop a shitload of gil (though RMT would abuse this...)

SE has been far too conservative with the majority of NM drops. Kraken Club I can see them limiting since it truly is a broken f'ing weapon, but people saying Ridill is teh l337 are deluding themselves IMO. Granted I didn't see it that way but BG convinced me otherwise. For a WAR to really use it, they have to devote their merits towards it which robs them of fully going all-out on GAX since you'd likely want axe merits to back up the Ridill otherwise why bother?

It's only really great in merits since you're generally much better off sticking to GAX for everything else. So ya, not that great a weapon yet it's a rare drop off a rare NM that pops once a week... and SE somehow thought this was a good idea? Don't bring that shit back with XIV please and thanks.

Actually. FFXI isn't the only major MMO that does this. Guild Wars did this too. It took me about 5 hours to get the scyth drop from a boss in GW, and I must have killed it at least 100+ times. But then again... EVERY area outside of a town is instanced and all the bosses are always up(AKA everything re spawns when you zone.). But when doing it with just henchmen, you can get one shotted by the boss, and lose up to two others as well, if they arent spread out enough.

But I do agree with you though. R/Ex drops SHOULD be 100% drops, even if the monster spawns like every 1 hour or so...

Its like the example you used with the Yagu Necklaces. (Omg... I hated doing that. And now I hate trying to get Ni). All the important stuff that you need to get should be a higher drop rate, or be easier to obtain. Its the same with stuff that you need so you can be effective with your job. Like the Hauby. It costs so much, but its not so insainly priced, that you don't need to farm/grind forever to get it. (Bad example I know...)

But when it comes to the Hagun. Insainly low drop rate, and insainly priced. Yet EVERYONE says that ALL samurais need to get one. Its impoosbile for casual players, but not nearly impossible for hard core endgame addicts.

So I think they should have it so that all the stuff that you need to be effencient at your job (if they use them in this game), should be easier to obtain (not exactly 100% drop rate, but atleast 75% drop chance for everything that is needed for your job, or what ever unlike Ni, and Hagun.) so that the prices of something you need arent insainly high for when you need to get it, and cant find a group, or are a solo player (Which they are letting more be/easier to be).

But if they made the drop rates higher, the thrill of FINALLY getting what you been farming 6 weeks straight for wont be as great!

Im jk I totally agree.. I remember when I first killed leaping lizzy and got an item drop off of her but it wasnt the rare item that sold for a butt load.. I was so happy then found out then instantly turned my ps2 off and went to bed sad.. very very sad.
