I disagree. I think slops/trews look good on my taru. They just look ridiculous on anyone else.

I forget sometimes how long FFXI has been out so alot of moron, idiots, douchebag, overbearring elitist, dickheads, and many other unwanted individuals on the list will make a opening appearence at FFXIV. I wonder will the GM force be like the one from FFXI. Because you seriously know something is up when you see one. I was mining in moblin land for like 4 hours at the beginning of the RMT/BOT hunts on Fairy and I had a GM tailing me for some time i guess until he just appeared from around a corner and asked me a question to see if I responded. I thought it was a NM at first lol I was slamming the attack macro. But I like the enforcements and ruling they made so far, well at least the ones that effected me. So I wonder will they adopt the same system, or start fresh with a new GM team.

I've pretty much started veering to where Wish is standing on this one.

I just do not care about endgame. And especially not enough to commit copious amounts of time for the mere handful of things I want. Finding (better) RL employment and getting back into other kinds of games for a while would probably be in my best interests. In month of having that little DSi, I've already amassed 20ish games and when SMT: Devil Survivor is out, I'm brining those purchases to a full stop.

I won't quit FFXI outright, there are still a few things I want to do. I think I'd like to see the Bastok and San'doria storylines, get WotG current at least on one character, if not two for kicks. Finish BST to 75. Hell, I'll even whip out BRD to merit my BST and SCH - endgame was key to making BRD not so fun for me, after all. Maybe do THF on Kitten, though in a few levels Foobar could be a real breadwinner on BST alone and I can just kick back and relax, playing FFXI if and when I feel like it.

If SE were to announce a way (kind of like The Station does) that paying for FFXIV paid for FFXI as well, I might be down for that, but otherwise, I think I'd make the move to FFXIV. Hell, if most people are saying they can't let go of FFXI because of "all my hard work" then how can I say no to FFXIV if they won't be there?

                  GMs in FFXIV?

                  Justice, in HD!?

                  Oh, I can't wait.

OH THAT REMINDS ME, I know that in Everquest Online Adventures (keep in mind, this game is older than FFXI and not nearly as popular), if some monster is beating the shit out of you, and you're clearly running away, and you clearly PASS an outpost gaurd. it'll jump in and fight it for you.

Brings to question the fact that if outpost guards are strong enough in a zone to be STANDING THERE (seriously, I still get fucking aggro in Cape Terrigan, what's up with that?), why they don't DO anything?

Lost feature, SE? Didn't want to friggin hold our hands?

I personally think having the Outpost guards actually GUARDING AN OUTPOST would be nice. Isn't a place of refuge what an outpost is supposed to be?

They concerned that gamers will take advantage of the OP Guard? Make it like CFH; no one gets rewarded if you CFH when a guard pops up.. duh

Then again, I'm assuming FFXIV works like FFXI.

I played EQOA and the guards were exactly like that. though getting to the guards alive was an entirely different matter. It also depended on their faction alignment.

Meaning, Dark Elf guards don't give a shit about your human ass, but they'll jump to defend a fellow dark elf from danger. If you're partied with a dark elf, the dark elf guards are still inclined to kill you afterward if you're human, but if you kill their enemies more and more, they'll reluctantly accept you.

So yeah, basically, racism in a video game. I remember meeting a curious dark elf who crossed the entire continent to see Queynos. She was from Freeport, a neutral area (until EQ2 made it the "evil" starter point), so the human guards there were just peachy with dark elves and anyone else, just like Highpass. Humans of Qeynos don't like the dark elves though and this one hadn't started building her faction rating with Humans in Qeynos (they hate the Gnolls, kill them and you're buddies with humans. When this dark elf stopped to talk to me, the nearby guard killed her and she had her binding point back in Freeport, about two hours of walking from Qeynos, lol.

So basically, if you're running for help in EQOA, you're hopefully in friendly territory.

There were a few things about EQOA that were better than FFXI, too. Being primarily western in audience, "need before greed" was common practice. Also, people weren't all that picking about camps, particularly given that any camp was a bit of a walk, but that made getting the camp feel more like a journey anyway. People were way more chill, even though our EXP death penalties made the ones in FFXI like nothing.

Its basically why I think people who complain about EXP loss in FFXI have not other point of reference but FFXI. If you died in EQOA, you went into and experience debt. You'd get 50% of your EXP toward your next level, but the other 50% would go toward the debt. If you died a lot, then you'd be in debt for a while.

I won't be joining you peeps in XIV so you're pretty much fucked ;P After XI I'm quitting MMOs for good, and put that money and time towards other pursuits. I'd have quit XI by now if there still weren't so much left for me to see and do (WoTG, San d'Oria/Bastok storylines, ACP, and whatever comes afterwards.)

Doesn't count, that was for XI and XI alone.

Things from WoW I do not want:

                              1. The ability to fall off of anything anywhere and die.
                              2. Crappy camera angles. I think FFXIV will support controllers so this shouldn't be an issue.
                              3. Getting aggro while on a mount. Which wouldn't be so bad, if some mobs didn't have the ability to knock you off your mount. Usually after I've got like 5 of them on me from trying to ride past them all. EVIL.
                              4. Single job per character. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO Don't do it.

Things I do want from WoW:

                              1. Jumping capabilities. Nothing major, just let us jump over some stuff instead of going around it.
                              2. Riding my mount in town, and being able to talk to NPCs while on it.
                              3. Guild/Linkshell banks to which certain people can be given more access than others.
                              4. Easier fucking crafting.
                              5. Swimming.

They slaughtered my ass! My son was still in high school when I beta'd that game and he laughed his rear end off....I wanted to strangle him. ><
