Do Stygian Spikes work on Conj as well?

For some reason when I am playing my conj the Stygian spikes dont work even though I have them equipped and I can cast them on myself. Is there some reason why they are not working?

EDIT: I think I figured it out, I dont think you can stack Shock Spikes and Stygian Spikes. Any comments on this?

Yes, you cannot stack spikes, much like how it was in FFXI. I'm still trying to find out what stacks and what doesn't.

So basically shock spikes are useless if you have stygian spikes. Also would this not making things more difficult if your in a group and have more than one conj/thm? I noticed they dont overwrite each other either. Which all in all is a pain in the ass.
