    Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

For behest, make it so they only attack the red mobs, yellow wont give EXP, and if someone is attacking yellow, spam the fuck out of their /t until the stop.

Works wonders and gets you extra SP.

As for Leves lately people stopped repeating leves and started linking them, you can get up to 300+ a mob if you link 2-4 people, so the stuff we hear about people getting 500-600 might not be too fetched if they linked 5+ leves.

Made 30k sp in a little over an hour linking leves and and doing behest twice with a 12 man pt R25-35 in casso, yesterday.

      Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

Keep in mind that I typically play alone when I ask this. How do you link leves? Is it simply a matter of having a few people join you on your own leve... or do you all have to have the same leve at the same time and "link" them? If it's the latter option, could someone please explain how to go about doing that? I don't play with anyone usually, but I'll be eagerly looking for a static if thats what it takes for me to level faster.

        Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

Leve linking is performed after someone starts a leve. You will have to touch the aeth (if you have the leve) afterwards to link it.

So doing leves with a japanese LS now. Leve linking is definitely a better pace of leveling imo.

5 man linked leve gave 400+ to those without GA and 500+ to those with (of course there are level variations where the lower levels got more sp than the higher level people). Sometimes 5 man linked gave 307 SP on those necro pages leve (where you kill mobs to get pages).2 man gave about 153 without GA. i didn't record any extensive link count or anything, sorry T.T.

3 star leves throughout at 10 people within the 5 level range
I started the leves at 7:30 AM and ended at 9:47

In a one hr period, I went from 6,453/65,000 to 26,768/65,000 (only doing camp broken water leves)

In total (did additional halatali leves), I am now at 44,609/65,000 @ 9:47

P.S: it's b.s that you don't get rewards if you error out >.<

          Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

People are starting to form parties on the spot at R30 aethers, usually getting 10-14 ppl in a pt, and booting people who don't have leves from the pt to get others that do.

Crude, but I've gotten 2 ranks a day doing that from 24-28GLA over the last few days and I'm happy, it took around 1-2 hours a rank, so its pretty awesome. (behest w/e the NPC is up).

They must've tone down the difficulty of behest mobs a tad bit or maybe it's because I have a high physical level as well as wearing appropriately ranked gear which helps me a lot. I took up a behest at Skull Camp as an R15 pug and mostly soloed a lot of the mobs and got crazy SP for each kill (350-400) and the other player was some German R16 conj who declined to party with me (but I ended up saving his ass with heals >.>) It was pretty fun and I want to do more of it. I have a few screens of a behest I did with some players at Camp Tranquil on my then R22 GLA (and I dinged Phys 36 on that one and got a lot of omedettous from the JP players I ran with) but that felt too easy for some reason. It could be that a lot of the JP players were R25-27sh and that may have killed the SP gains as well. I'm going to see about tagging along at the R30 camps for behest their with JP and hope I don't stand out too much as an odd-ball "low rank" player.

hm . .. i feel like the gap between levels make a bigger difference than the mobs you fight against in behest. with that said, i'm only seeing about 3-5k from a behest on any of my jobs in about 10 to up to 20 mins of fighting. It's decent. although, i feel leves are a much better pace to level. btw have you guys had experience with the leve linking? i keep hearing 3 is the max and then some say that you can even get more with 6 people linking. these conflicting reports are driving my nuts!

I'm sorry, but the only experience I have had are up to 3 and at low ranks (i.e., 10) so I can't really say. I have trouble finding groups on my GLA and then eventually get impatient and just go back to doing leve crafts which already occupy my thin slice of time I can spend online. I still do not understand how people can go through 16 leves in a 36 hour period and be wanting for more. Do they not have a life beyond the game? I can't even seem to handle more than 8 regional leves in one area and without consuming my animas in a negative fashion (i.e., spend more than I can regen) I'm very perplexed about the gaming behavior of some of these players...

                  Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

So I finally pulled Alchemy out of the dumpster and got to mgrinding last night/this morning. I took it from R12 to R17. To do this I took 1 stack of Bee Baskets and synthed them into about 2 1/2 stacks of Beehive chips. From there I synthed those into about 6 stacks of Bees Wax. When All was said and done, I NPC'd 5 stacks of the Wax for around 5,500 each. At this piont, I was around R14 with only 400 or so SP left till 15. I was also up about 9k for my efforts... after shards/mats are considered. Using that 9k, I stocked up on 3 stacks of Fine Sand to start work on breaking down all the crystals I've been hoarding. Since shard synthing is around R16, the first 2 synths failed and were a waste... but with support I managed to pull off the next 2 and bring myself to R15. From there, it was smooth sailing with support and I dinged R17 in no time. I now boast 999 of each shard and about 3000 lightning shards. I still have almost 30 of each crystal left and a ton of Radient Morains (idk how to spell it). Hopefully that will be enough to pull me clear into R20 or higher.

That being said. Guess who has a new favorite craft?

                  Hint: This guy

                    Re: FFXIV Leveling Guide

I need to get Alchemy higher but more importantly I need to be able to fish the damn Dark Bass (which sells for 3k each on my server) to make fish glue. It's around 1k each off retainers but I really don't want to spend 100K for a stack of them in order to further my crafts (since it's a common glue for R10-30 recipes)

You seem to be using a lot of crystals. I've been hoarding mine for the most part and then the shards come naturally from completing crafting leves with appraisal values of over 100 (this maximizes shard awards to 50)

You can get tons of crystals from fighting certain types of mobs.

-Dodos & Puks will drop Wind crystals fairly often
-Arbor Squirrels will drop a lot of Ice Crystals
-Moles will drop a lot of Fire Crystals
-Rats will drop lots of Earth Crystals
-Fireflies & Wolves drop lots of Lightning Crystals
-Water crystals drop off various mobs (form what I can tell) but you may get better luck off Spriggans & Roselets.

I have almost 120 Wind and 150 Fire crystals and the others are near 100 with exception of Lightning which I've been slowly gathering (to 60) I'm trying to avoid crystal recipes for grinding as much as possible because they will be used heavily in the late 20s up to 50 on many "important" recipes. Shards are very easily farmed (I used earth shards down to around 400 and now it's back up to over 1,700 from grinding on GLA and doing leves in just the past 3 or 4 days) and maybe it's good for you to do what you did in converting crystals to shards but I definitely will try to avoid doing it myself

It's not that hard to clear 8 leves. It takes about an hr to an hr and 30 mins. By leve linking you save time and boost SP. If your in a PT of at least 6-15 it's easy to finish a leve in about 10 or sometimes less than 10 mins.

Of what "important" synths of the future do you speak? I looked into the future of all 3 of my crafts and i hardly see any reason for Crystals.

If all I need them for are a select few GEAR recipes... I'll just buy what I need when I need it. From what I can tell, shards are the way to go. If I'm wrong, please stop me.

Edit: I'm saving all my lightning crystals for WVR. They're used to make Cotton Thread and in turn to make Canvas. Those I'm aware of. As for anything else... I'd need to be educated... because I've seen little use for them.

You can only clear 3 leve per camp unless there's something I don't know about. Even with the changes to the anima cost the regen has not changed (6 per day) and you will use a lot of it (~15?) to get around ... do that for 10 straight days and you're out of anima I'm afraid.

Note that I said that it may be good for you (i.e., your craft) but it's not the same for me. Look up ARM, BSM ... essentially the crafts outside of those you're working on. They require crystals up and down for basic mats and I'm also seeing clusters being used as well. Beyond 50 (remember, we're still in the "infancy" of the game) I'm already hedging on recipes utilizing 10-15 crystals per synths and even more with some requiring multiple clusters. Shards would then fall out of favor moving beyond that point. You will accumulate shard faster than you can use up and I will no doubt find myself sitting on fuck-tons of shards personally and not being able to get rid of it. Unless they add recipes to "glue" them together into crystals ... would be kind of an interesting mechanic.

Supposedly there a butt-ton (another new word) or recipes being added in tomorrow's update. Hopefully, those will include the "glue together" recipes you speak of. Even if it's just a reverse of the Crystal-Shard recipe we already have... I'd be hapy with that.
                            Ex:
Crystal + Sand = 36 (or more) Shards
                            36 Shards + (glue?) = 1 Crystal

Your in a group, you don't have to be the one teleporting and therefore you won't run out of anima.

This, I find, is always helpful. If you're like me... and you hate to use your Anima, find a party at whatever camp you're headed to for leves... join them... finish the leves and then ask "who is going where" and hop a ride to your next destination. This morning alone I hitched a ride to Ul'Dah, then to Gridania and finally to limsa... with a few camp ports in between. How many did I pay for out of my own anima? None.

I currently have 50 Anima... and I play almost every day. Hoofin it isnt so bad when you get used to it.

I only tele if I have to jump nations... and only if noone near me is going to hitch a ride with.
