    Description
The Miner's Guild is responsible for the excavation and handling of Eorzea's mineral wealth, be it ores, fossils, precious stones, or otherwise. It should come as no surprise, then, that their most eager customers are the realm's blacksmiths and goldsmiths.

To fully master the advanced techniques developed by the great mining nation of Ul'dah, miners must undertake a wide range of tasks, from the meticulous prospecting of the most minute deposits to large-scale civil engineering. The guild staunchly subscribes to the theory of continental drift, and as such many among its ranks for their patron deity Oschon, the Wanderer. The primary tool of the miner is the pickaxe.

In addition to their unexcelled prowess at throwing rocks, miners also use their skills to debilitate enemies with mineral compositions.

Throughout their travels, miners are always able to put their skills to use in the field or dungeons to earn some gil.

    Re: Miner Stats and Info

I am really looking forwards to getting this game. Mining looks so much better than in FFXI. It actually looks interesting. I really couldn't be bothered with mining before but I am definitely trying it out in FFXIV
Years ago I created Final Fishing so people playing FFXI could easily find information on how to fish. If you know of the site I hope you enjoyed using it and it helped you.
Now I am trying to do the same for FFXIV. I plan on making this database for fishing, harvesting and mining while getting all the information that may be interesting for crafters as well. I hope you will take a look and that you find it interesting:

When actually mining, it plays out like a game of hot & cold.

First you select at which height you want to strike at the exposed ore. Then you usually have 3~4 chances to strike with just the right level of force to extract your prize. You will get a big radar-like circle to the right of your screen with an orange circle that constantly expands and contracts. You hit enter at the right moment to stop it, and it will give you a message from "you don't sense anything promising" to "you're close but you can't quite extract it just yet" or something like that.

I've only been able to locate grade 1 mining points, but they typically have 6 attempts per location before being worn out. It's quite fun and very profitable, as you typically get 100~200+ mining EXP and 950~1000+ physical EXP per success.

        Re: Miner Stats and Info

I found a tier 3 and a tier 4 both of which were exhausted after one successful attempt. I was 8class/12phys when I found them and they were well far away from the main area. lack of zones makes discribing things harder lol, but way way more purty when actually playing.

        on a side note....this game
        is
        fucking
        gorgeous.

It's still beta so of course stability and bugs are everywhere but it makes WoW and FFXI look like atari to playstation. I always thought FFXI's graphics have held their own over time, but it was a smack in the face to realize how far behind they actually are.
