I should get one of those for my brother. Right now he's wearing a bare chested leather harness and a subliger... It makes me feel like I'm taking a baby into combat, complete with a diaper.

If anyone on Palamecia is starting to craft this ... let me know. I'll become one of your customers.
Ya I saw a conversation in Ul'dah between a crafter and a guy that wanted one. The crafter could make them but the guy didn't want to pay the price. lol

God I hate my periods. You think passing a clot through a vagina is bad? Try it with a penis.

...I'm shitting dicks out of my eyeballs in excitement for the next bestgreating game of all time ever.
I know somebody who's crafting them, but I don't have his name. He's charging about 300kG for it, though. It's a rip off.
There is a JP player who puts one up every night in Limsa ward on his retainer. It is very pricey but someone managed to get it crafted for a lot less in materials cost.
I can attest to you that you can craft the following materials for less than 15K total in NPC COST. The value of this haubergeon on the AH would probably go for no more than 25K tops. In Bazaars, however, it would be commonly found anywhere from between 150K to 400K.
I know I probably sound like a broken record, but one of the reasons I'm leery about going seriously into crafting professions in this game right now is how unsure I am about what price I should buy/sell mats and items for. Retainer prices can vary so wildly, it drives me crazy.
Except at least on my server, the market is schizophrenic right now. You can find the same item for 50G and 5000G because the retainer system as it works right now makes it so incredibly difficult to determine the A) Fair market value of your items and B) How much you should be paying for other people's wares. Without a centralized market to compare prices, you can't control the market. I can put up my hempen turbans for 500G and some people may pass them by because they think that that is too high a price, while other people will buy them from me and then go on to (successfully) sell them for 5000G because it is just too inconvenient to look for a better price on the market.
And yes, I'm back. Stupid SE and their pretty and addictingness.
I've been fair with selling my products on my retainer (shameless plug, Tranquility and Discordia in Limsa wards) for roughly 15-20% under what the NPC sells at their shops. For food ingredients, I've decided to settle on 30-40% discount off the vendor prices for anything that I see as "not-so-essential-but-useful-nonetheless". This means that if an ingredient is priced at 2,500 gil but is used in rank 10 recipes, I'd cut people some breaks and price it to maybe around 1,500 to 1,800 each. I'm not tightfisted with money and would like others to be a bit more generous and open minded but I don't wait for the other players to act on it.
I sell drops and other items in the same manner. For items that do not have a vendor price list for (or no NPC vendor will sell) I do a quick glance through the wards (at least 3 times a week if I'm not shopping for anything) and based on median prices (taking off too low and too high of a price in my calculations) I'll price accordingly.
I usually make my own mats. I buy only shards/crystals. I tend to be a bit more aggressive in bargaining for a price but I when I am lazy, I would request them in my bazaar and offer +5% over median pricing (not the stupid +20% overprice in the wards) I just plop in the middle of a road and within half an hour, I made all my purchases.
Lately what I do is craft 1 of each of my money makers and just keep them on me and craft while waiting for shouts, sooner or later someone will "WTB" and I'll jump at it.
When I go to bed I put all my junk on retainer with the rest of my junk in hope that it sells while I'm asleep.
Though I've been more than reasonable with prices and if people haggle me I just go "hell take it for xx" and that usually reels them in.
But I guess I should get on the bandwaggon and cash in while I can before the market flooding ruins everything.

The flooding will largely occur right around the holidays and then for the next month or so. Once the PS3 customers stream in (more suckers!) and the college kiddies go back to their irl orgies, you can see a bit of the profiting opportunies come back.
The most awesome thing is the "new market wards" that have appeared outside of the Adventures inn/tavern place.
It's so awesome because everyone just hangs around there and it's like "hey i'll go check out the market wards for that piece of gear i've been looking for (because a week, and still only one retainer have solved the confusion of trying to find the mat's/gear/weapon/etc. that you've been looking for)
Instead everyone just AFK's in the tavern and lags each other out.
I understand this is somewhat off topic, but this BS is what is causing these ridiculous prices on items like bronze haubergeons.

I blame SE for this. If they had opened up an Auction House right from the start with a 20 slot maximum on listing, then we wouldn't have this kind of pricing disparity and the resulting "desperation" (or laziness) of players. I will guarantee you that the prices will hold steady, there's still room for a nice fat profit and a lot of happy players (payers? lol)
