not really sure but lets use EQOA for example. and me and you are grouped i am lvl 10 you are lvl 9. we go and kill a red (hi lvl) mob. and i would 5000 xp but you get 4000 xp. now if i had killed it while being solo i still would only get 5000 xp. i am not sure how the xp works in FFXI but it may be similar.

Is it hard to lvl up when you first start out as a white mage? It just seems to me like it would be because you have very little to attack with.Comment

Well, it may take more time to kill things, but at low lvl whm is good for lvling because you run a lesser risk of dying then other people... the first 6 lvl's were easy in my opinion raising my whm. However I don't know past that because I'm only lvl 6 with her! Of course.. I already had 2hc exp from using my blm...
As for exp, you get less experiance when you are in a PT (depending on the level, if you have a good PT you actually get alot MORE), and the wider your lvl range, the smaller amount you get. Say you fight a person your lvl and you get 50 exp for it solo, if you fight the same person with someone your level in your party you would get probably 18 or 28 exp. Now, if that person was higher then you, the exp would decrease, though it would stay about the same for the slightly higher lvl person. To get 50 exp from an enemy you would have to fight a very hard enemy for your level...We each hold a page of history. Some people are good writers, others are not.

as WHM i found levelling up really easy tho.....
it's true that whm has a hard time soloing. but you don't need to solo at all as a matter of fact...
my whm got PT called since level 5. and i have never solo my whm ever since again.
whm is the only job that everyone love no matter how newbie-ish you play really...
