  • Meleeing White Mage?

I'm sorta confused with what i'm going to choose for my job classes... i want to be a White Mage, but i want to be able to have decent "Tanking". I was thinking that WHM/MONK (or vice-versa) would be a good combo... but i'm not really sure.. post suggestions... Thanks

Yeah, WHM would go best with another magic job but i want to be a meeleing white mage :D... and i think Monk would be best because it doesn't cost a ton and it gives me a lot of extra HP and VIT

WHM weapon restrictions will SEVERELY limit any kind of tanking you could concieve...most of your tanking will take place when you level from 1-10/11/12, and once you start PT-ing, you'll soon learn the value of having extra MP from sub-jobs when your PTs go up against tough monsters...

as a WHM, your tanking will be next to nil...regardless of sub-job...

White mages should attack more than they need to.

If you want to attack things, perhaps think of black mage with the subjob of white?

The thing is he wants to melee. I wanted to be a Tank type white mage but I figured out that it can't be done (only in early levels) but there is a Palidan. Stronger than white mage..

Yeah i guess you're all right.. i just want to be able to do some decent melee dmg when i'm not healing people... i think it would be better if i used a bow.. i know theives can use bows but what about Monks? and White Mages? i don't think White Mages can equip bows but if i'm using Monk or Thief as my main job then i could use bow...

i guess i'll just stick with WHM and perhaps have a Thief SUB so that i'll be fast and have good dodging... i don't really want a BLM sub, even though that might be the best choice

EDIT- I just check.. Thieves can equip most bows.. so that's good...

as long as you're not slowing down your PT, it's ok to join the attack.

                          normally it's not wise tho...

                          - enemy turns to WHM often because healing makes a high hate. if you stand right next to the enemy it can turn to you and hit you right away. sometimes the fighters can't even notice it's targetting you.
if you leave some distance, the fighters can clearly see the monster running to you. make it easier to taunt as soon as they can. and whm won't get hit right away.

                          - group attack can give WHM unnecessary damage. which the whm will waste MP healing theirself.

                          - something like dia-ga... will make WHM unable to sit down. tons of other status sickness that can kill the whole PT.
for example my PT fight a undead-dog once... at it used a group-virus attack. the virus stayed for over 20 minutes. and our WHM couldn't heal MP at all during that time.... the longest downtime I've ever had.
