I've been looking into a job combo and I can't decide if I should have White mage/Summoner or Summoner/White mage. I was looking at the stats and White mage/Summoner will have more HP and attack while Summoner?White mage will have more MP and defence, but won't the summons be weak if I go with White mage/Summoner? I kinda like the AF armor for Summon <.< all but the horn, and that brings up another question. Say I choose Summoner and get ther AF armor do I have to have a horn (>.< I really don't like the horn)?

Haha, I LOVE the horn. That's what the summoners wear in tactics and FF V. Anyway, I don't know about the AF question but I think I can help with your other question.

Well, I've never played, but I have been doing a lot of research and have asked a lot of questions. From what a lot of people have said, summoner is not a good sub job at the later levels. Many have said that if you are lvl 60 and SUM sub job is 30, than the summoned monsters are only lvl 30. And when you are fighting lvl 60 enemies, they will kill your summon with one strike.

So that leaves SUM/WHT mage as being the better choice. You may not get the best spells but the lvl 30 spells are better than the lvl 30 summons.

But seriously, I was in the same predicament as you. I really wanted to be a red mage/ summoner but everyone told me the summoner is a bad sub class. So, I'll probably just end up being a red mage/ white mage (boring!). Hopefully S-E will do something in the future to balance the sub jobs as well as they've balanced the main jobs.

Yeah, except that exact summoner costume (with the horn) existed in other FF games years before Ronsos were ever created. At least they're not blue and furry! LOL

I think being a Sum/Whm is a great job combo I mean you bring out big monster that protect others ^_^;; :sweat: but you have the horn :sweat: just make beilive its not there

As I have posted before:

To have a good experience with summoner, YOU NEED TO LVL A JOB to LVL 60. IN ORDER TO KILL THE SUMMON LIKE SHIVA TO GAIN SHIVA YOU NEED TO BE LVL 60 TO KILL IT.

SMN/WHM is the best combo for summoner.
SMN/BLM is the worst combo for high levels.
WHM/BLM is the best combo for white mage.
WHM/SMN is a ok combo~because summoner only gives mp boost but does not provide the same "oomph", blm has conserve mp which is nice and BLM sign which is excellant and blm spells. Summons cost to much to cast and will be too weak.

Well to solve the horn problem, just dont wear the AF head thing. Then you can find a better looking hat to wear and still have the rest of the armor.

You and your party could take up the summon quests before you actually become a summoner, then once you get them all, you can start training all the summons from the start.
