Additional Effect Status

I have my filters set up so all I see are special actions/effects done on/by party, alliance, myself, and foes. I can see "The mob casts Bio." "Suzie has Bio" or whatever, but I DO NOT see additional effects. For example, when a frog does waterbomb, I cannot see that people are Silenced.

Is there a way I can see additional effects in my chatlog w/out having to see "dmg done to pt/alliance"? Because that is a lot of spam I don't need to see.

I can, however, see when somebody tries to swing but they are unable because they are paralyzed. That line of text I can see. "So-and-so is paralyzed."

How can I see addtional effects?

I don't think you can see the additional effects of some moves. I've never been able to. It's extremely annoying to me but what I do is research the mobs ahead of time and see what the move does. So I'll see the move in my log and then have to remember the effect. So....ya....as you can imagine, at my age, the remembering part sucks balls. LOL

Sucks balls at any age, TGM. There are some moves I still can't keep straight.

If the move does damage, it will not display any additional status effects it gives in the chatlog. If it does not do any damage, it will say "xxx is xxxxxxed" and so on.

You pretty much just need to learn which moves do what, and be able to recognize them by animation, not just by seeing them in the log.

And there is a problem with that though, as a mage you stand a significant distance away usually so sometimes you don't see the animations. It totally sucks how much you miss actually....facial expressions of mobs, cool animations, etc. When I was a nub rdm it was one of my pet peeves because I'd stand back with the mages and the mob would do its shell move and I'd not see the animation and I had it filtered out of my chat. So I'd miss Dispels and the parties would be pissed at me. LOL

No, I have to filter animations. Not only do they lag me, but some actually cause my game to crash because this laptop is a piece of shit. If you have a good system you can keep animations on, but really need to just learn to live with filters. The only person's damage I see is my own at any given time.

When I was first leveling BRD, I asked my RDM friend how to tell when to Dispel/Finale the beetle's evasion boost because I couldn't see animation from where I was standing and I wasn't sure on mob attack names yet. This was his suggestion, and it stuck with me ever since:

"You can tell when it does Rhino Guard because the animation will have a sound kinda like a 'ssshhhiiiiiiiinnnk!' when it goes off" and its true! I never missed a Rhino Guard since that day.

But it is kinda overwhelming sometimes having to memorize almost every single mob's move names and its matching status effects. Some mobs have many different types of moves with different statuses and I get so mixed up on which one is which.

Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. /sigh I do mainly endgame stuff now so I know what events are coming every day. I go to good ole wiki and look up what we are doing so I can see mob moves/status crap whenever I can't remember. I've taken to making a notebook with all of it written down now so I have it in front of me when we are doing the events.
