If you haven't read this yet, read it now:

    Shattering Stars/White Mage - FFXIclopedia

Then go watch some youtube videos of the fight.

There's no particular reason you can't do it now, other than needing a few gear tweaks. I still have not seen one good reason to do it before 70 other than simple impatience. I haven't heard that Maat is any stronger if you come in at 70, but I have heard that he's easier at 75, which implies that he doesn't match your level.

I am almost there, having just dinged 69 myself, and I've been preparing for it for a few days now. One thing you haven't mentioned is whether your magic skills are capped or not. Cap them first, particularly Divine and Healing. Enhancing would be a good idea to make Aquaveil last longer, and Enfeebling if you plan on casting any debuffs on him. If your skills aren't blue, boo hoo hoo.

I've been making a point of capping my magic skills every level since the 50s or so in Besieged or scamming them tagless from campaign battles (see my stickied guide which is basically good though it still needs a few tweaks). The only reason I'm not capped right now is because there hasn't been a Besieged when I've been on since I hit 69 on Friday night, and I was barely on yesterday. Besieged also helps your Evasion skill, and I'm up to 140 (level 53) in that just from all the KO in there.

Don't forget a Tav Taco as food. I was thinking about using a Candy Cane until I saw the stats on taco. Also, I plan to make up a good macro set and test them out ahead of time so that I know I can perform as well as possible.

As far as AF gear goes, the legs/feet are the most important. The FFXIclopedia guide suggests Crow head/body/hands instead of the AF, I had the crafting skill to make it, and I saw someone mention it as good WHM solo gear, so I made it. And I hadn't started any of my AF quests, so I didn't have the choice of using AF tops. I will probably go for it even without AF gear. That extra +15 Divine from the legs shouldn't be so important with capped Divine at 70, especially with a Divine Torque.

I don't think hMP is going to do you a lot of good if you're tanking Maat, and there's little time to rest even if you Repose him. So use Ethers for quick MP recovery after initial buffs followed by a Yagudo Drink. Keep in mind that if you run out of time from resting too long, you've got to farm another damn Testimony.

Another question is whether you plan to do a Tank strategy or a Repose strategy. (The third strategy is DD, but that's hard to do if WHM is your first job because you won't have the combat skills.) If you're going to do tank, and even if you aren't, the Bat Earrings + Blinding Potion gives you +15 evasion per earring, which is awesome. And they're cheap too. And I see no indication that Blinding Potion will affect your spell casting.

Aside from the earrings, most of the rest of the gear looks okay. Red Cape seems to be a good choice even though it wasn't mentioned in the guide. You could probably do with a better neck piece though.(I plan on going in with Cobra Coat set and Coven Hat for MP, then swapping to Crow after initial buffs.) A Willpower Torque gives you interrupt -5, good for the tank strategy, and a Divine Torque gives you divine +7, good for Repose.

Noble's Tunic isn't bad for +MP and cure potency if you have one (I'm waiting to drop the quarter million until after I beat Maat), but the guide really doesn't suggest anything but Crow/Raven Jupon for +evasion. That 1MP/tick referesh is nice... when you're not under a 10 minute time limit. That's only about 350 or so MP for the whole fight, if you drag it out to the last second. Find something with better defense and use Yagudo Drink or Melon Juice instead.

Ether Ring may not be a good idea if you're a taru. The guide cautions against HP->MP rings if you're a taru.

And one thing that's not in the guide but I plan to get is an Instant Reraise scroll to save the time of casting a regular RR, and the 150-175MP too. (At least I think it's faster... I'll probably find out when its macro testing time.) If this is your "first time" (presumably meaning that you haven't yet beaten Maat), you won't lose any XP from getting KO in the fight.

And if you're going to Repose him, start out with a Banishga to drop his shadows if he has Blink up already.

Wow...ok. I guess it is a lot tougher than I had originally thought. I am a Hume. As for my Magic Skills...I have Divine and Enfeebling Capped. Healing is at 159, Enhancing is 153, Elemental 84, and dark 33.

Good idea on the Re-raise scroll! So you think I should use something else instead of the Nobles?

Re: Here is what I have at lvl 69.

Noble's Tunic really isn't bad, it's just not something that someone should go out of their way to get specifically for the fight. But if you've already got it, +17MP, Cure Potency and 40 DEF (!) should help with tanking Maat.

Also, even if you're planning to try Repose, you should still be ready to tank Maat anyhow. If it fails to stick, then you've got 30 seconds of pain coming your way before you can try again.

...and now that I think about it, this taru WHM may want to swap out his Electrum Ring for a Phalanx Ring. 10 DEF is what you get from 20 VIT, and I've seen some WHM DDs in campaign wearing two of them. 20MP is less than half a Hi-Ether.

WHM Maat is probably the easiest of the bunch, you can do it quite easily at Lv66 if you try hard enough. I'd say with your gear and the fact that you're 69 already you should have no problems.

I suggest going with the 2xBat Earrings route because Evasion+30 is certainly not to be snuffed at. If your Evasion is close to cap then don't worry about skilling it up because you're going to gain about 4-5 levels in Evasion just by doing the BC.

Also when I did this fight, I invested in an Earth Staff, just for the -20% damage, and also a Medicine Ring for the +10% Cure Potency when your HP is in the yellow - which is going to happen a lot in this fight.

Take a Vile Elixir with you for emergencies and don't forget that you have Divine Seal and Benediction at your disposal. Use them. Substitute DS+Cure III for a Cure IV and if your HP gets really low, Benediction rather than trying to pull off Cure V because the different in casting time could be the time that you receive an Asuran Fists to the face.

Re: Here is what I have at lvl 69.

I would say that SAM Maat is easiest as SAMs can potentially one shot Maat by going the Self SC Darkness route.

In all honesty WHM Maat is luck based. It all depends on if Repose sticks, what WS's he uses when you stand still to cure/drink a potion and what spells he throws at you and how good you are at kiting on a job that is utterly dependsant on it's subjob for kiting.

During one of my attempts at my WHM Maat fight I was hit by the following right away:

            Banishga III, Silence, Asuran Fists

            Shortest. Fight. Ever.

Fight went something like buff up, cast Banishga and then Repose on him. Repose didn't stick and I got hit by his Banishga III. I was hit by silence as I started running forcing me to take hits while I used some Echo Drops. Asuran Fists was his first WS which hit me when I had to stop to hit my 2 hour. I ended up dying within his aggro radius so I couldn't RR.

The best advice I can give for WHM Maat is try to get Repose to stick and only stand still to use items. Unless he's using Banishga III I honestly don't think there is a safe time to cast.

Tanking is a bad idea as Maat can easily hit you for 100+ a hit without an Earth Staff. Please note that Combo, Raging Fists and Asuran Fists can easily one shot you especially if stoneskin is down while Howling Fist and Dragon Kick can take you down into the red if you're unlucky.. Kiting him or going on the repose route is probably better and safer.

I think most people now just cast Banishga then Repose then pray it sticks and if not kite him while praying that he uses a useless WS when you heal.
