Is it possible for a WHM/NIN to be a much more awesome solo combo than we thought?

WHM/NIN works at the levels in these videos (74-75) with really good gear and skill, but it's not really a viable leveling combo.

      Than you thought? Probably.

WHM/NIN, in the right hands, and very late in the game (74+) with the right equipment can be an insane melee/soloing force. People have known this for years.

Small correction to Murphie's post: It is viable for leveling in the "EXP/Meripo PT" sense, but not in the "1-75" sense. A friend of mine that did this was a very competent melee DD in parties (and he could blink tank and do the minor curing that was needed while he was at it)

I was thinking maybe for NMs? possibly with two WHM/NINs?? I think it sounds like a good idea cuz while one is "tanking" the other can heal then vise versa plus... HEXA STRIKES :D rawr!

If your WHM tank is taking enough damage that they need someone else to heal them, they're probably hosed.

I just thought it was especially interesting. I didn't know WHMs had that type of power...especially when I found WHM burn parties...

              Re: WHM/NIN: Extremely possibly Soloer?

With correct weaponry and a Ninja subjob, WHM is a decent soloer. WHM has access to quite large amounts of Haste gear, and can cast Haste, which makes up for the virtually non-existent Evasion skill.

It also has potent healing magic, laughs at most status effects, has Stoneskin and Flash to supplement Utsusemi, and even a fantastic weaponskin in the form of Hexa Strike.

That doesn't, however, make it good for solo XP by any stretch of the imagination (although WHM/NIN is an absolute beast in Campaign for gaining XP and Allied Notes).

Do tell? Why not WHM/DNC (or SCH or WAR) instead of /NIN in campaign?

Lilith's Wand actually is probably quite beastly in Campaign Battles, since it drains about 20 per hit and fairly often according to wiki. It'd be cool to try this dual-wielding say Mjollnir and Kraken Club, but good luck ever seeing that combination XD (fun to dream though!)

Hell, the K Club alone with WHM/DNC is probably stupidly hard to kill in campaign.

I've found that WHM/RDM is quite a good combo for Campaign since En-spell damage contributes to your magic damage criteria for XP. Personally I wouldn't sub NIN for Campaign since you'll get more XP/AN if you're taking hits and curing yourself.

Which is why I say /DNC for Aspir Samba or Drain Samba II

The WHM tomb burn is an awesome idea... the firing power isn't bad and the survivability seems much better than a bad mnk burn : /

I've used WHM/RDM, and it was great before they changed the beastmen to hit faster ... these days, I'm not trying to tank, and am using WHM/THF to replenish my MP in the fight ( {Sneak Attack} {Spirit Taker} ). I usually try to cure whoever's tanking the mob at that point, since I now have all this spare MP...
