Just out of curiosity, I've heard of some updates on 2H weapons... more accuracy now or some such? Does this include H2H?

Currently, for 2H weapons, 4 DEX = 3 ACC and 4 STR = 3 ATT. This does not include H2H, which still gets the 2/1 ratio along with 1H weapons.

So, yeah. After some serious advice from multiple angles, I'm thinking that going with war to start would be more beneficial for me. Warrior basically lets me get a taste of all the DD based jobs - which I've always had a thing for anyhow - and also puts me on the right path to pick up just about any one of them. I just leveled war again on another character and I'll warn you that you'll be the tank most of the time. I'm sure you're probably aware of this already but didn't want you to be surprised if you didn't know. So I'd keep tank food ready and have decent gear if possible because its gonna happen eventually. lol

QFT. For the love of truth, please, please don't be another of those DD ONRY WARs, especially not in the 30s when WAR tanks its best. It takes more cash and effort to be ready for both roles, and you'll have to actually take up a line of your comment with "{meat} {Shield} OK!", but you'll get an easier ride through the sub levels (admittedly, WAR's tanking ability gradually begins to fall behind after that).

Also, don't give up on BRD. Contrary to how you read things, people love BRDs. They're always in high demand and short supply. Party-building at high levels practically revolves around BRDs. -- Pteryx

Since posting this, I've actually been playing a MNK. Honestly, I know a warrior's roll, and I'm honestly fine with DD or tanking. I intend to have gear enough that I shouldn't "need" a shield for most tanking purposes, but I'll of course always carry one for that sake. This is, when I start leveling warrior to sub for my MNK, that is.

Minor nitpick: the comment you're looking for is {Shield}{job}. I remember reading from Itaz that {meat}{Shield} just doesn't work.

◀meat▶◀Shield▶ works for NA players--then again, if you want to communicate only to the NA players, why not just write "tank"?

Someone (Aeni?) wrote that many JP players recognize it as well. However, in my personal experience, every JP single player talking about tank I came across on Ifrit used
- ◀Shield▶◀Job▶, or
- â—€Shieldâ–¶, or
- 盾(たて; tate; meaning 'shield') or
- 盾役 (たてやく; tateyaku)
- 'Tank'.

That is to say, â—€meatâ–¶, I just have not seen.

This Japanese entry on 盾役 (tateyaku) advises the reader to use the word "Tank" when speaking with foreigners (That'd be us). There's a separate entry on 肉壁 (nikukabe) which warns the reader that if English players use ◀meat▶◀Shield▶ , it's not a joke. I don't think the PLD entry on that site mentions anything about meat shield or nikukabe, however, so I take that as additional evidence that the concept of a "meat shield" isn't widely used/known among JP player population.
