    Re: Repose Repository

I read the thread, saw the necro and thought I'd post up my experience w/ it.

Level 56 whm, skill up pt in kuftal tunnel. Target was a sand lizard. Total resist. ...of course, my divine sucks, whm pants included... ...so yeah, can be resisted.

      Re: Repose Repository

I cleared SP assault mission Escort Professor Chanoix a couple days ago in a trio of WHM WHM BLM where the BLM basically did nothing the whole time. Just had two WHMs running around Reposing and casting Gravity and Bind off of our /RDM subjobs on all the undead that would aggro the NPC. Yes, Repose really IS that good.

On the other hand, tested it against a Tough Ul'Aern (resistant to Light) in Al'taieu with capped Divine Magic at level 75, plus 15 from WHM AF1 pants and a Light Staff and got 3 resists in a row, so yes, most definitely resistable.

        Re: Repose Repository

I mostly see resists on it too in XP PT settings ... but my Divine is just breaking 200 now (on WHM74), so I'm sure this will improve as time goes on. Anyway, I use ES to back it up ... I should probably find some Besiegeds or something and skill that up (and possibly Evasion while I'm there, Flash is likely to get aggro once in a while).

Man I can't believe how many people never hit cap on their Divine Magic skill ... doesn't anyone cast Flash anymore?

I find it somewhat surprising, too. I never had an issue capping Divine Magic once Flash was introduced.

                Re: Repose Repository

Well, at any rate, this gives WHM a way to cap it faster now if they need to do so, which is a good thing.

So the best possible duration is right up there with COR's Light Shot. Interesting. The thought had crossed my mind to ask of Light Shot affected it, but I remembered Light Shot was a light-bases sleep. It would probably just overwrite. I've not PTed with a WHM that used it yet, so I have no way of knowing if it overwrites or enhances the duration. If it doesn't overwrite, it would register as a miss and I'd assume it would lengthen the duration.

And just to save you guys further trouble, I've tries sleeping Aerns with Light Shot before, its about 75% resisted without light staff and about 66% resisted with it. I was just bored one day and did the math out at sea. BRDs have posted similar results, so I'd assume the same for Repose.

I kinda get the sense this was tossed in to ease up the high demands placed on BRD sin Burn PTs. Now that we have two other light-based sleepers, maybe those BRDs can spare a few seconds to buff people.

Unfortunately, no. Repose has a rather long casting time - similar to Sleep II. When you're pulling, that extra second or two when the monster is gunning for you and you alone means a lot.

That and precious few mages are smart enough to back up their Bards with Sleep II/Repose. Many RDMs don't have the necessary MP flow and/or skill in merit parties to cast lots of Sleep II, and it's not like WHMs get voluminous amounts of invites to merit parties in any case.

I spent hours in Besieged Flashing and Banishing mobs of all varieties to death to work on my Divine skill.

Well, I wouldnt expect WHM to be pulling at all, I'd want them backline regardless of Repose. But they could sleep the incoming pulls and sleep them at a stronger duration than BRD could with likely less resists.

BRD EXP is expendable anyway. Easiest job to keep capped next to COR and RDM. Not hard at all. If I died as COR or BRD/NIN, just R1 me and I'll trot off to pull weakened - that's how trivial the EXP is.

Let the BRD get hit, getting hit doesn't interrupt the much-needed songs. "Savez teh mages MPs" is what I thought their /NIN sub was for anyway.
