Repose - Lv. 41 WHM - Sleeps an enemy (Light/Divine)

I picked up this spell last night, and while haven't had a chance to use it yet I hear it's one of those utility spells that has the potential to make White Mages shine in a new way in both parties an endgame activies

If you've had a chance to use Repose, let's hear your experiences. Did you find a mob (other than the obvious Light Elemental or Aern) that you had trouble sleeping? Did you find a situation where it's made a big impact on your or your team's performance?

Repose probably puts undead to sleep, thats what its probably useful for, so far only BRD could sleep undead no?

      Re: Repose Repository

Repose does put undead to sleep.

I've been using it to skill up my frankly pathetic divine magic (Flash/Repose, repeat ad infinitum - I, erm, hit 205 Divine Magic last night). I've been using it on puppies in sea. Now, considering all mobs in sea are light based, I've had no problems landing it at all - it has never been resisted. With low divine magic, the duration is short, but it's been getting longer.

Sleep does not overwrite it, Sleep II does.

Plus, the animation is cute as hell.

Weird.. I would've thought Aerns would resist it a lot.. oh well.

Some undead could be slept using Sleep/ga/II, although of course they're highly resistant. Also, BLU and COR also have Light-element sleeps for undead.

But yes, the fact that it's Divine and Light-based makes it a lot better for sleeping undead.

              Re: Repose Repository

I picked up Repose yesterday as well. It's got a very nice setup. A little long on the spellcasting duration, but a rock solid 1:30 unresisted duration with a recast of 30 seconds. Light element, Divine skill based, which means I had to pull my AF1 pants out to test with...

Aside from its potential uses in party and HNM situations, it's also going to make WHM a significantly better soloer.

                Re: Repose Repository

Did a run this past weekend with some friends to help them with CoP Missions 8-2 & 8-3, and Repose was an absolute STAR! I literally saved the RDM's life at least three times after his Sleep 2 and Sleepga got resisted, before he figured out that he wouldn't be able to sleep a dark-based Ghrah.

It was so good I wrote a macro for it, although instead of using gear swaps for more Divine Magic skill (mine is maxed out anyways), I went for my Apollo's Staff and increases to MND (Penitent's Rope, Errant Slops, Holy Phial, & Prism Cape). My only resists with this setup came against the Qn'Zdei and Ix'Zdei near the end of mission 8-3, and even then that was after I had landed it once and they built a tolerance to the spell.

Our ls whm were using it left right and centre in Dynamis. They seem to like it as it gives another level to what they do.

                    Re: Repose Repository

Are you sure Sleep II overwrites? In dyna, I remember seeing the no effect message if a WHM for Repose on before my sleep II.

In anycase, WHM's should not be sleeping primarily as they were (ok fair enough everyone wanted to try it out) becuase they just end up getting beat on.

I've got a Dyna-Xarc run tonight, and if I bring WHM I'm gonna be casting Repose every chance I get. Getting beat on is what Reraise 3 is for.

Yeah I believe it's equal w/ Sleep 2 as well. A WHM has this in my meripo the other night, we had WHM, RDM, and COR, so 3 sleeps for holding mobs/managing links, it was really nice. Not sure if his Divine was capped, but it was extremely accurate on Greater Colibri, he got one resist the entire part over the course of 2-3 hours.

Also: It makes a weird noise. >.>

I have yet to get it, but last night in Dyna Beau, our ls lead on whm was having fun landing Repose on all the mobs he could before our lead rdm/blm would, then die a few times XD

The other night, my Up in Arms team of WHM, PLD (me), and DRK went out there to do 3 more runs, and I'll be damned if Repose wasn't a life saver. Before, we had to count on ele seal+ sleep from the WHM, or Sleep II from the DRK and hope like hell it was unresisted. Now, we have repose and can knock it's ass out for 90s; long enough for us to get rested a bit and jump back up and kick its ass.

Repose is great in my book.

Bit of a necro, but getting LB3 tonight (as WHM60/SCH30) I used Repose a few times on tier 7 Yags with Light Arts up, not a single resist. Same held true against Divine Inspirers in a West Saruta Campaign battle.
