  • Nashira Turban... big deal? or big deal!

Ok.. so my gang managed to pull off a messy win vs. Proto-Ultima this week, and the free-lot Nashira Turban went to me.

OK.. immediate happiness and YAY EYEM PIMPORZ garbage out of the way. Done. Everyone's tellin me "Hey that's a great piece for a WHM to have!". I dunno but I just don't see it, at least not as a full-time piece of armor.

Or maybe it's that I'm used to the HP & MP boost from Walahra Turban. I dunno..

What's your take on this guys?

It's definately a very good piece to have on. The only other head gear I'd consider full-time would be Walahra Turban.

The Enmity-5 is something that's definitely not to be snuffed at, and you can overlook the MP+30 of Walahra Turban once you've gone below Max MP, but the HP+30 that Walahra gives is really quite something, not just for survivability but also for Devotion and Martyr. The Haste is better on Walahra as well which makes it the best for soloing hands down.

I don't know how good Magic Accuracy+ items are in comparison to items that boost magic skill directly, so depending on that it would be a good idea to sub it in for Enfeebles, but other than that, I probably would only use it on occasions where hate is going to be an issue - which really shouldn't come up because you can avoid hate issues by just having good strats and skilled party members.

Wear it around town at least

I'd say it's nothing more than a macro piece for enfeebles, which if you have a RDM around you're not going to do. Stay with the Walahra Turban.

Ok I think I found a use for it..

I did some testing this morning during a merit party (Me, BRDx2, WAR, SAM, NIN) and found a use for it when I cast enfeebs. Before I got Nashira I would get resisted a LOT more often on my enfeebs, even with a macro swap for Cleric's Mitts + Healer's Briault + Matching HQ Staff (and +2 enfeeb merits). Now I'm landing Silence at LEAST 75% of the time against Mamools. It'll probably be the same vs. other mobs except BRDs.

It's probably also added some spice to my Banish effect vs. undead, tho it was already nice enough with Cleric's Mitts.

I know you're working on your RDM Olo, that is a great swap piece for your Dark Magic as well as your debuffs once you get it up there, saves you from wearing that ridiculously ugly Wise Cap that I have to lug around.

            BTW, we wiped to Ultima at freaking 2% on Sunday, guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks for my Manteel; ;

I knew it'd probably be a nice piece for RDM but didn't think it would be that good on WHM until this morning. The JPs I was partied up with were like "shiro yokuyatta!!" and now I kinda figured it out. :D

Proto-Ultima is one big nasty muthaSHUT YO MOUF!.. Once you get it under 20% and it starts spamming Citadel Buster, you're pretty much guarunteed to have people die. I'll help you draw up a strat for the gang tho.

Ppl tell me Nashira Seraweels are more amazing for RDM than Manteel is. They both look like good pieces, but hey any of em have that drool-inducing factor that's bound to get you noticed on a material world like Ramuh.

Re: Nashira Turban... big deal? or big deal!

We actually had a pretty sound strategy, we just needed 1 more tank(we only had 15 or 16 people), and we caught one unlucky break that a Citadel Buster caught more than 1 member. The first 3 times it used it we did a great job of having the one member who had hate run away from the group, but the 4th time they were to close and the BLMs all got wiped.

As far as Nashira pieces, Seraweels are a nice piece for landing debuffs for RDM, but I use the leg slot for Mahatma Slops for greater potency, and would do so even if I had the Seraweels. The Manteel is a ridiculous piece for Dark Magic though, and you know how I am with my /DRK.
