On a tangent, does anyone else wonder why it is that HQ staves manage to hold rock steady at 2M while the price of everything else from crystals to scorpion harnesses is plummeting?

Wild guess would be that the need for them is staying relatively the same, and that there aren't any significant changes with what materials are needed to craft it, or how to obtain said materials. However, with the scorpion harness, the V claw has become much easier to obtain, from what I've heard.

Plus, the fact that they forever remain at 2 million engraves into people's heads, so it's going to remain a static economy and crafters will be able to make a constant profit by selling at the accepted value.

I really hope it isn't. I'm enjoying the prices as they are today (although I guess if I made my money via high priced rare items I might be a bit angry). As it is, I make my money via items that are high-volume but relatively low cost, so I don't really feel the pain so much.

Elemental ores haven't hardly moved in price on Fairy for a long time (aside from the xmas rush last year). They've been a pretty static 150k-500k depending on the ore. Based off a 25% HQ rate, most 100 ww'ers are comfortable with a couple million per crafting session. If they drop the price too much then it quits being THE moneymaker for woodworking and there isn't a whole lot left after that. And nothing even remotely as lucrative.

Asura is experiencing massive deflation as well, which is astounding on many counts because Asura was at one point one of the worst inflated servers out there. Just one example is the Scorpion Harness+1. I believe that at it's lowest point it was about 5-6M, whereas before it had been over 20M.

Because Elemental Ores are still hard to make. They come from gardening, which is at best a one month process, then have to be turned into beads by a level 92 Gold Smither, whiche is hard to find, and then you have to have at least 86 Woodworking to even have a 10-15% chance of making an HQ staff. To get a good chance you need to be 100 Woodworking, which is very expensive to obtain.

That and the price of Elemental Beads on my server is about 500k per bead, while NQ staffs sell for 50-80k. So if we don't make HQ, we lose 400k each try. It really blows.

well that would be because people are constantly making scorpion harnesses and there are way more of those than hq staves because the amount of newbs making it to that lv is slower than the rate or people making the scorpion harnesses supply and demand basic economics, and exactly what zamphire said basicly.

Erase is holding steady at around 100k on Bahamut. I was a very happy White Mage when I found out.

Not many scrolls are worth the farm anymore
scrolls that used to sell for 600k only sell for like 50k now.

Or mannequin parts like Hands that I could sell for like 6ooK - 1.2mil now only sell for 100-500k.

BCNM 20 Giddeus was such a wicked exploit for fast cash.

On Asura, Erase is @200k down from 5mil... Even the HQ Staves are coming down. Utsusemi: Ni has lost 33% down to 1mil from 1.6. NQ Staves are way down--I'm not sure how low then can drop before WW's start having to raise HQ prices to compensate.

Erase plummeted I think because everybody was still doing the BCNM40s for other drops but only getting Erase. All the while EVERYBODY has already leveled WHM. A year ago you'd find WHMs in the 50's who still didn't have Erase, but the last few times I was leveling a Lv.32+ job the WHM already had Erase.

Now this could be due to people are leveling their subjobs, and have already raised the gil required with their Lv.60+ job, or because like I speculated that everybody already has it.

As far as the HQ Elemental Staves go, I think those prices have basically gone as low as they'll ever go. There are just so many jobs who would be interested in having the HQ Staves, crafters won't be lowering the prices. SMN, BRD, BLM, RDM, WHM, BLM, and BST need 2 to 8 of them and would some day look to upgrading to HQ. Those are a lot of jobs and a lot of HQ Staves.
