150k for Erase?!

A friend just said that on Ramuh, Erase has dropped to 150k. I know the price of Erase has dropped, but this is just crazy. Has anybody else seen the price of Erase drop on their servers or is this just a fluke on Ramuh?

Two years ago I farmed the Pashlow Marshlands (good farming back then) for close to 2 months to save up 300k to buy it. Then inflation hit and Erase shot up to the 800k-1m+ range. Now it's down to 150k? What gives?

Not only erase, but everything is dropping on Seraph. SH is at 3 mil now. The only thing that isn't going down are HQ staves.

Not to worry though, when Christmas time comes around, prices will shoot back up, and I'll be able to sell all my high-valued stuff. :D

Refresh was 1m-1.5m when I first started playing and its now 5k. Like everything else supply/demand and ontop of that you get the RMT monopolising it which they arnt doing atm. (Dont think they ever did on erase) Once most people on the server have it theres no one to buy it and it drops.

heh, I paied 500k or so for refresh back in the day, it was on the rise up! it was 700k+ only a few weeks afterwards. I havent checked prices lately, but i wouldnt doubt if it was under 200k or so on Bismark

I haven't seen Refresh cost more than 5k in the last year or so. Maybe it was a lot more when I started playing (Apr 2004).

Erase had gone up to 600k as it's "normal" price on Pandemonium. It was probably very high during Christmas time. Lately, it's gone down to ~140k and sometimes, if you're lucky, you can get it for about 100k.

There are more players now who can get together with friends and do BCNMs for the Erase scroll. That's my guess as to why the price has gone down.

Refresh was really expensive because most people didn't know where to get it iirc. A rumor started about a hecteyes mob named Tasai, or something to that effect, dropping the scroll and at that point people went nuts claiming these mobs as they spawned. It was revealed that refresh was a BCNM drop, and as of today a fairly common one, and the price on refresh dropped dramatically. SE, in a slightly ironic, slightly humorous act, then released an NM hecteye that pops when the Tasai haven't been killed for X amount of hours that now drops the Spelunker's hat (-10 acc/eva) and constantly casts refresh on itself.

As for erase, that's just part of the normal deflation that's occuring. Everything in the game has seemingly dropped in price dramatically. E staves costs less then 1mil for the entire set, Beastmen Blood, which peaked at 200+k a stack, now sells for 60-80k. Scorp and Hauby, which were up to 20 and 10 mil respectively are now 3 and 4 mil with their main competetors, the peti and siphani at 60-80k and 100-200k each.

I seriously doubt we will see the same kind of massive inflation this christmas though. SE has hit IGE's banks repeatedly and the prices of gil have risen to higher then ever before. During christmas gil was absurdly cheap but I don't see that happening again.

I was shocked too when I went to buy erase for my husband's WHM! When I got Erase (BCNM) it was right around 800k (back in early 2005), so it was a pleasant surprise. Keep in mind, that right along with the general deflation in the economy, the addition of Emperor Hairpin and Peacock Charm to BCNM40s that drop Erase has greatly boosted the supply. It's not uncommon to see 10+ scrolls on the AH, where there used to be 1 or 2 (if any) ever available at once.

Erase is holding steady at around 100k on Bahamut. I was a very happy White Mage when I found out.

Do you think I'll get grief if I don't bother getting this spell? I'm primarily going to be subbing whm for my blm. My whm is level 31, so I just have 6 more levels to go until I'm done with the job.

yeah and as well the new ISNM's drop erase and other sought after materials. So prices of things like the blm JSE body has droped a lot in price as well.

With the price it's at now, I would give you grief, yes. It's pretty dang useful, and the price was always the only reason I ever gave anyone some wiggle room with regards to when they get it.

Plus, one day you'll be a 64 BLM, and you'll have access to Erase once again. Very handy.

I bought my scroll of Erase last week for 90k = D I had like 10k afterwards : (
But it was worth it. Now they're back up to 150-ish. The lowest I've seen them go was 50k. ._. I'm on Gilgamesh by the way.

On a tangent, does anyone else wonder why it is that HQ staves manage to hold rock steady at 2M while the price of everything else from crystals to scorpion harnesses is plummeting?
