  • My Maat fights

I have been to the burning circle to face off with the mean old man Maat 3 times. I was told I would have to cure 3k HPs to win. Did that, didn't work. Then I was told to cure 4k HPs. Did that, didn't work. I want you to know it not the amout of HPs cured. It is the time in the battle feild with Maat.

My first attemp I was halfassed prepared. Wearing my Blesses gear, astral ring, electrum ring, 2 death earrings, powerful rope and light staff. I hade 3 super ethers, 2 pro ethers, 3 yag drinks and a stack of echo drops. I got into the BCNM and buffed with pro 4, shell 4 and barsilencera. Well to say I needed a little more than that. He paralized me and it was over.

The 2nd fight. I was wearing the same gear took in same items and casted same buffs except barsilencera. I casted barparalizera. When he paralized it was easier to take off but he silenced me instead. Not a bad thing since I live with echo drops anyway. The time came for me to use 2 hour. I proceeded to use a super ether and he beat me up. Instant me ass!
HAHA Never will I use those again.

Now we come to today and my 3rd Maat fight. I took a different aproach. Def, def, def!!! I got my def as close as I could to 300. I was wearing my blessed gear, 2 bat earrings, 2 verve rings +1, bibiki seashell, druids rope and earth staff. I took a stack of Mulsum, stack of echo drops, pro ether, a stack of blinding potion, and a tavnazian taco. As I entered the battle field I ate my taco, casted pro 4, shell 4, stoneskin, blink, aquaveil and barparalizera. Used a yag drink and healed.

During the fight I casted cure 3 and 4 as needed till I was out of mp. 2 houred and used a stack of the mulsums. With the Def I wasn't getting hit as hard. but eva wan't that great either. I forgot to use the blinding potions for the effect of my earrings. I never did use the pro ether. But I lasted. I won.

I hope this will help with any WHM that are going against Maat. Just don't be nervous and don't over cure. You have to last 5 min to beat him.

    Good luck
    Cutie

Even though I've never done this before, I have something to add. Make sure you balance defense with good mp/mnd gear. You need to be able to take a few hits against him, as well as be able to cure yourself when you're getting low and have just enough mp when everything's all said and done. Moreover, bring a decent weapon. Even though it's very difficult to kill him in this fight, it is possible. ^^

I did mine in my AF, druids rope, bat earrings (also forgot to use blinding potions though) with an earth staff and tavnazian taco for food. The only time I got into any trouble was when I stupidly popped a hi-ether (I'd never used one before) and watched my usage bar creep up while Maat used me as a punch bag. I'd say def is definitely the way to go too. That and don't stop running.

There is no requirement for you to kill Maat in this fight. Purposefully giving him more TP isn't something I would recommend unless you are doing it for bragging rights.

            Re: My Maat fights

You win this fight based on time. I went into this fight reading everything I could and thinking that the win condition was based on amount of damage you can heal. Later I learned that it was based on simply surviving for five minutes from the moment you engage. Easy enough, BUT there's a catch - your BC timer starts when you enter, and your actual fight timer starts when you engage Maat. In other words if you wait 5 minutes and one second before you engage Maat, you will automatically time out and lose.

So, your strategy should be based on this :

            1) You should be ready to heal somewhere between 3-4k of damage within the time limit, including regen effects.
            2) Use Regen and defensive gear (phalanx rings, bat earrings+blind pot, earth staff, bibiki seashell) to help slow the damage he throws at you. For food, use a Fish Chiefkabob - it's a lot cheaper than a Tavnazian Taco.
            3) Save your MP - Use Protect, Shell, Blink, Stoneskin, and Aquaveil at the start of the fight and use a Reraise Earring or Gorget. Casting enfeebs, barspells, banish, etc. makes no difference in this fight.
            4) For those who haven't tried WHM GK5 yet, Maat fights one-handed with a major delay. You can easily sneak spells in between his hits. Use that advantage.
            5) Only use Cure V unless your MP is low. It generates the most healing for the least MP, and with your Regen on you will be able to save enough MP to make it to the end. 3 Yagudo Drinks should be enough. Also, bring three Hi-Ethers and use them at the beginning to refill your MP after casting your buffs - this will save you time instead of resting and possibly getting a timeout loss. If you're Elvaan or Galka, I also highly suggest bringing some Hi-Pots and Mulsum in with you to give an extra MP boost, because you will probably need it.
            6) Have Benediction ready to go.
            7) Some strategies recommend getting as close to level 70 as possible, then going into the fight with an EXP Scroll and using it mid-fight to level up and replenish your HP and MP pool. It's an extreme idea.
            8) You MUST bring 3-4 echo drops. Maat will cast Silence on you.

              Re: My Maat fights

I suspect it's based on damage (before def adjustments etc). At the point he gave up on mine I hadn't cured myself nor was Regen active, but it came straight after he landed a hit on me.

                Re: My Maat fights

I just beat maat a few days ago on my first try.

I am 66whm Mithra. I went for DEF and HP being my main goal.

For equipment I wore full whm af except for the gloves.
Garden Bangles (Adds vit and Regain)
                Bat earrings x2
                Phalanx ring
                Medicine Ring
                Earth Staff
The rest I just used what xp gear I had.

                Items:
                Blinding potion
                Echo Drops x12
                Yag Drink x 2
                Au Lait
                Hi potion x 6
Tropical Shallots (Wanted Tav Taco but couldn’t get just 1)
                Vile Elixir
Vile Elixir +1 (I had brought the Vile Elixirs incase I ran out of mp but I didn’t end up using either of them)

I went into the burning circle with no equipment on. So once I got in first thing I did was put my equipment on, buff up with protect IV, shell III, Aquaveil, Stoneskin, Blink, Then I rest mp to full. (I brought my dark staff).

I popped a Yag Drink, Au Lait, Tropical Shallots (I couldn’t get 1 Tav Taco >_> But the Shallots worked well) , and Blinding Potion. Then I walked up to maat and casted slow. (It didn’t stick.) Then I just stood there and waited to get to yellow so that the medicine ring would kick in. Then I casted cure 3’s for most of the time. At one point my Yag Drink wore off so I had to pop another and I was running low on mp. So I used Hi potions until I had enough mp to cast a few cures. I found the blinding potion wore off pretty quick and didn’t seem that useful. He silenced me twice but I had echo drops. He also paralyzed me but I had Paralyna ready in a macro. Toward the end I was running real low on mp so I let him beat me down to low hp and then I used Benediction. I still didn’t have mp so I again let him beat me down low hp. I was just about to use a Vile Elixir to regain mp and hp when he called off the fight. The regain from the Garden Bangles had triggered the hp cut off.

I cured about 4100 hp + regain from both Au lait and Bangles. And the time was 9 mins. (I was cutting it close)

He only used Shoulder Tackle and 3 inch punch on me and I went in on Darksday.

Hope this helps anyone who needs to fight maat. ^^

                    Re: My Maat fights

I'm pretty sure it's based on time - but the timer only starts when you pull maat (so you can run out of time when you take a long time to prepare).
It took several tries for me as well; in the end, earth staff + taco + keeping stoneskin up was all i needed - very few cures needed cos I got SS back up quickly.

Well...went against maat on whm to see how it would go. I died after about 1k hp was healed. Least I got a pretty good idia what to do in the future. I might haste myself, had a bit of trouble getting cures off between spells(had aquaveil on, fight was going good till his paralize wore off) But yeah, 4k hp to heal? That sounds pretty challanging.

It's too bad that first timers can't use Black Halo (you can't equip the Club of Trials until 71). However, for those who have beaten Maat before and want another go at it for whatever reason:

If you've got a damaging club and capped club skill, if you're properly equipped for melee, and if you take the time to wipe his Blink and Stoneskin beforehand, a single Light skillchain of Black Halo -> Hexa Strike will more often than not force him to submit outright, even if he was at full health when you began the skillchain. He won't even get a chance to use Benediction.

Though, you can get royally screwed if he Flashes you right before one of your WS.

I took 7 minutes to beat him

Was 68, wearing AF and an Earth Staff. No Def food cause I forgot a taco. Normal earrings/rings, no extra def anywhere.

Used Cures II, III, IV, V and bene. 1 vile elixir (could have won without it, I think) and a few yag drinks.

Got down to 27 HP and still won and beat the record. So I'm thinking it's damage taken or healed. Flash came in handy when he didnt resist it ^^

                            Healer's Duckbills

                            Items
                            12 Mulsum (used 9 of 12)
3 Yagudo Drinks (used all 3)
                            1 Vile Elixir (never used)
                            1 Tavanzian Taco (used)
2 Blinding Potions (used both and evaded Maat about 6-7 times)
                            3 Hi-Potion +2 (never used these)

Never had to use Benediction or Divine Seal and still finished w/90mp.

Cast all buffs off my preset macro bar slowly and calmly.
Prot IV, Shell III, Blink, Stoneskin, Aquaveil, Tavnazian Taco, Blinding Potion (for earrings eva effect), Yagudo Drink. Swap to Dark Staff and rest to full.

Equip change while running up to Maat to Earth Staff, Healer's Pantaloons (def), and a Bibiki Seashell. After some mp was spent swap out the Hairpin for Healer's Cap, Electrum Rings for a Medicine Ring (+10% cure bonus if <75%hp and <100%tp) and a random Stamina Ring. (after the fight i noticed i was sitting at about +19 VIT so he was hitting me about mid 80's for dmg per hit, and the occasional 100+)

Did the stoic stay in one place and cast rather than running all over the place. The ONLY thing he interrupted was a recast of Aquaveil which I said to heck with that. I never use Aquaveil skilling anyway. 4 Silences all remedied by Echo Drops. Used about 9 of the 12 Mulsum I took with.

                            Fight time 7min. 58sec.

To the next WHM going for their fight, just stay calm and read up all you can on it. ^^
