RDM/WHM in Onzozo has 3 Fast Cast traits (2 natural + AF hat), added to the already-fast Paralyna. If you pulled the trigger really early on the spell you may have finished casting before the Paralyze effect from the Coeurl's Blaster WS took effect.

Bear in mind that the battle log is not totally chronological, so you might even see

"The Torama uses Blaster."
"So-and-so is paralyzed."
"Your Paralyna has no effect."

...in your chat log, even though you actually finished casting first.

As I said in my post, I've had that exact thing happen to me several times, and I don't even have a single Fastcast trait going.

It can also happen with crawlers in Crawler's Nest.



While we're talking about what status ailements can and can't be removed, I wish to heck there was a way to remove Weakness. There are so many bloody times when I thought "Oh damn if only I could pop an elemental seal erase or something and it would remove X's weakness..."

I've only ever had problems with doom. (4 cursna casts and then the tank falling down dead was fairly common when they got doomed.) I've heard of the promathia silence working like doom, in that it's possible to remove with silena/echo drops, but a fairly low chance.

I've fought promathia 3 times (4, if you include the one loss), and the only time he did used that silence move was when I was there as my friend's RDM/BLM and I was out of range when he did it.

I don't think it's possible to remove Promathia's Quiescence at all. I've tried it several times (and burned through half a stack of echo drops the first time I fought him in a vain attempt to remove it from myself), and never once have managed to remove it; if it works at all, the chances are so low as to be not worth considering.

As I mentioned above, I've been hit by Promyvion Brume in various Promyvion fights quite a large number of times, and never have had Poisona fail me yet. In addition, there are stronger poisons in the game than that applied by Promyvion Brume (read: Serket, Voluptuous Vivian, etc.), and I've never had Poisona fail against those either. Occasionally I'll see people get a full resist against a poison status attack due to Barwatera being up or some other condition, at which point it has failed due to having no status to remove, but never have I seen it fail to remove an existing poison effect after casting it hundreds, maybe thousands of times.

Hmm. http://promathia.runtimerepairs.com/Missions/8-4.html (Spoilers about CoP 8-4, don't click if you don't want to know.) The CoP website I used agrees with Icemage, and I could have sworn it said it worked very rarely. Must have been a Zam thing, since I used that for a CoP guide first.

there are stronger poisons in the game than that applied by Promyvion Brume (read: Serket, Voluptuous Vivian, etc.)

How strong are they? Because the worst poison I've seen and recorded to date was 23HP a tick, and it was from that flower in attowah chasm.

Serket's drains some 50HP per tick. VV's is like 30 per if I recall.

Indeed. Poisona works just fine against Serket too. Believe you me, after killing him about a dozen times, I'm positive I'd notice if I cast Poisona and was still taking 50 damage a tick.

Actually it was more an effect of suddenly half the party members started losing life...fast.

It was a JP party, so I had no idea what was going on. I thought they'd pulled something invisible.
